Great room! At the time of writing this review my group of 7 (we work at an escape room together) are the record holders for Blackbeard! Great puzzle design. Amazing game masters. Very difficult to pull off unique puzzle designs in room themes that are overused (Blackbeard/pirate, Sherlock Holmes, Jack the Ripper, etc.) But nerdy by nature pulls it off handily!
Super well designed. Puzzles were unique amidst a very oversaturated theme.
Set was a tad lacking, but that’s fine since the room itself was fun!
GMs here are absolute gems. They’d get me to come back even if the rooms were terrible!

Great pirate room! Dooris was a great GM! I loved the set design and all the different types of puzzles. It is different than most pirate rooms, which was nice!

Set design a little let down on this one… puzzles were clever… staff friendly…

Fun pirate room! Definitely not their best room, but has a lot of heart. The owner here is great! We set the record at the time with a time of 27:06! Solid puzzles and everything made sense. One tiny issue with a lock but no big deal. Can’t wait for their next room!

This is our second time trying a room at this location. It was much better experience mainly because our GM was a lot more enthusiastic than what we had previously here. Gameplay was good. Not overly difficult but not too easy. Felt they made good use of the space and pretty much every nook and cranny had a purpose so leave no stone unturned! There’s an area that is kinda low light that I would suggest bringing your glasses if you’re sight is bad like mine. The theme was pretty cool but the design to the room could probably use an update. Not to say it was bad, just could use some TLC as some of the locks were a bit finicky but not unmanageable. Is it a big budget room? No, but I do have an appreciation for older rooms like these. They attempt to make something entertaining for the space and budget they’re given. Overall it was a good room and most importantly we had fun.

The set was nicely done, from the prison to the pirate ship to the cave. It was clear that great effort was put in to make it look cool, and it did. However, the gameplay was not good. The flow was not there, and multiple puzzles had extraneous aspects that were distracting and confusing. Multiple puzzles had tech that failed as well. The ending was vague and inconspicuous. Lastly, the game master was nice and I feel bad saying this, but there was zero enthusiasm or commitment. When we were done, he wandered away without the usual offer of a photo op, so we awkwardly shouted goodbye and left.
Did not flow, we ended up skipping or missing some puzzles

THIS ROOM WAS SO SO MUCH FUN!! From the moment we stepped into the room (prisoners of Captain Swan) the immersion was IMMEDIATE!! The room was so much fun, hand-built by the staff and obviously full of so much love! Eden, our GM was so amazing and gave us a ton of recommendations for more rooms! The best way to enjoy this room is to really get into character, pirate accents, referring to your fellow game members as “captain”, “first mate”, “matey”, “scallywag”, etc. it really makes it that much more fun!! Treating it like the adventure it is. My friend and I have now completed both of the rooms currently available at “Nerdy By Nature” and could not recommend the company more! As someone who works at an escape room, you can see the love put into every single corner of their games. Daphne and I had a blast, thank you so much Eden for the amazing experience!! We’ll be back for sure when the Scooby Doo comes out!!

Overall, it’s a fine room for people looking to get their feet wet doing an escape room. Nothing stood out here as a must see and the overall theming was weak. I appreciated the great customer service, but the game itself could’ve been a lot better. The room just felt old and worn out, the feedback in the room just wasn’t there (locks felt old and worn, unlocking certain things with tech felt aged/broken). Even the ending of the game feels completely unfinished.
A few cool puzzles but nothing that stood out. The rooms needs more puzzles to feel like a more complete experience.
The set design in the first room is fine. The second and third rooms were not good.
The guy running the game was very nice and great.

Set dressing left a lot to be desired. Gameplay was alright. Story was unremarkable. Staff was very nice. Solid 5.5 out of 10.

The puzzles were fine and the tech interactions were cool, but the experience suffered from low quality set construction. The room is very ambitious, and it seemed they didn't have the budget to pull it off. I would say it's worth it if you're looking to cross it off your list and perhaps for some of the interesting tech, but I wouldn't recommend it until they have the means for a solid upgrade.
Decent puzzles with good flow, only hindered by some jankyness of the locks. Some new lock types, which is fun.
Ambitious set - the idea is good but I think execution needs a lot of work.
