Blackbeard's Brig

Out of the over 100 rooms that I’ve done, this was the worst experience I’ve had to date. To begin, the owner was nice and the room was in theme. The game itself was meh. There were a couple of puzzles that were not intuitive and needed leaps in logic. There was also no ambient sound (music, seagulls, nothing). While that may not seem like a big deal, it takes away from the experience and is such an easy thing to add. Where things took a turn for us was when we needed a hint. We asked, waved our arms, even went out of the room to find someone for help. There was nobody around. Eight minutes later we got our hint. But that was just the start. The owner had to come in the room 3 times to fix reset mistakes, and once just told us to ignore an answer on a sheet that had not been erased by the last team that played. These actions broke any flow or immersion of the game and took time. With the constant interruptions and not getting the hint when asked, 15 of our 60 minutes was wasted. There was also two broken props needed for puzzles. We were still able to use them, though. The owner apologized for everything that went wrong, but never offered any sort of compensation or replacement game. Overall, I cannot recommend Xscape Our Rooms.
