Very tedious decoding puzzle that wasn't fun. Storyline was forgettable. Set design was equally forgettable.

We are seasoned escape room enthusiasts, but we found this particular escape room to be rather disappointing. The storyline was weak, and the games themselves were not always reliable.
Did not flow well
It looked weathered and not creative.
Staff were nice
Not scary

Visited a buddy on a rainy day in Houston and gave the mystery in the mansion a try. My friend was not an experienced escape game player and this was a good starter game for him to get his feet wet in. The location was centrally located and easy to get to.

Many broken puzzles, many leaps of logic, one “decode this thing” puzzle was on scraps of paper that could be read upside down as well giving two solutions. Hopefully you don’t waste your time on the other side of that cool flip. The GM had to come knock on the door to hand us a packet with the next puzzle because the mechanism inside the puzzle that produced it was broken. This room makes me mad even thinking about it. This company is just bad
Gameplay would be more fun with up to date props and fixed puzzles
Not really that immersive or innovative.
Many of the puzzles were broken and one of the broken puzzles was quick fixed by an employee knocking on the door to hand us the prop for the next puzzle interrupting the experience

Just thinking about this room infuriates me. My brother and I (both experienced escape roomers) failed this room but I don’t even like to consider it a loss because it was pretty much unsolvable. Multiple puzzles malfunctioned and requires our GM to physically come into the room to fix them. One of those puzzles wouldn’t work after we had input the correct code several times and then made us rethink everything and try a bunch of incorrect codes, thus wasting our time. The worst part was towards the end when we had to try and extract a key from a device on the wall using a magnet. The magnet was NOT strong enough!! After we lost and our GM came in, I brought up that stupid magnet and she said, “yeah…. I’ve spoken to the owners multiple times about it not being strong enough but they never do anything about it.” Ummm…. WHAT?!?!?!?! Charging people to play an unplayable room is the worst escape room offense I can think of. Don’t even waste your time and money on this ridiculous room.

The puzzles made sense and were decent but it was hard to get started. We had a hard time getting a hint at one point and there were weren’t really any triggers between puzzles to keep the game flowing. Again just missing the moments/clues to move from current solved puzzle to the next one.
Game didn’t flow well but the puzzles were decent
Not super immersive but it does feel themed
