Bewilder Box: Judgement D.A.V.E
Bewilder Box Escape Rooms Brighton: Judgement D.A.V.E. @ The Brunswick
Escape room
IRL
We visited Brighton for the weekend and booked this escape room for the 4 of us last minute. We had only done one 'live' escape room before, so this was our 2nd experience, however we often play 'Exit' games at home when we get together. We were a little nervous going in however Dr Archie Bald was fabulous, engaging, fun, has us laughing and got us excited and geared up about our mission ahead! The game was great with lots of surprises, excellent quality, very well built, tidy, new looking with everything in tact, nothing looked tired or tatty. It was challenging enough that it got our 4 very different thinking brains ticking, It wasn't easy but knowing D.A.V.E was there to help if needed. We had such a good time, was so impressed with this whole experience and felt so proud about our success that we decided to return the next morning to attempt the other room. This was truly an amazing 2nd experience for us that we walked down the beach front with a spring in our step, and couldn't stop talking about it the whole evening. Thank you so much! Off to review the second room! The Braintrust.

After walking away on a high from playing Judgement Dave, the following morning we decided to book the 2nd room before we set off home from Brighton. Dr Banana was so helpful, even getting up early to come and open up the lab especially for us! (Thank you!!) We loved the second room just as much as the first and found ourselves feeling very acomplished once more. This is a very different room to Judgement Dave, the puzzles are challenging but satisfying to solve. Some real brain teasers in here, again, opportunities to work together, solo, pairing off and coming back together. Our Host Dr Banana was engaging, and ready to give a clue should we need it. We only had one clue, which, in the light of day we wouldn't have needed had we not had a slight oversight. However, it is very entertaining, has the brain working a notch higher, really enjoyable with a wide variety of puzzles, riddles and locks. Outside of the lab, Dave was lovely to chat with and gave us loads of information about apps, sites, recommendations about other rooms to try in various parts of the world, and how to find the best ones. Very knowledgeable, and eager to help. This game, again like the first one we played, is very high quality, everything worked, no mishaps or anything shabby, was an exceptional room. We got a little discount for booking the 2nd room which topped off the weekend perfectly. Leaving, on another high, basking in our glory all the way home. Thank you for being a big part of our weekend and helping to make it a very memorable one. You have set the bar high for future escape rooms! Thank you all so much, we had an amazing couple of days and couldn't have asked for more. The Braintrust.

We booked this as a birthday treat, had we read reviews before booking, we probably would have booked something else. Upon arrival, our host was pleasant, the surroundings sparce and in a warehouse setting, didn't feel overly nice, but went with it. The introduction was okay, felt very scripted, wasn't keen on how you are shown into the room, I feel it's unnecessary, I won't give it away but I think it should be changed. On first sight of the room, it's very old, used, battered, worn and really could do with a revamp. It was a disappointment upon revelation. As we took hold of the game, we found it to be repetitive, in that it was very number focussed, locks that weren't part of the game, everything was linear which was frustrating as we had to go one step at a time, you can't work on something while someone else works on another clue. We needed a clue on a couple of things, one thing because what we needed to see was so dusty, if we didn't look hard we would never have seen it. There was bits broken and tatty around the game, we didn't leave with the same high we have previously felt on other game experiences. On reflection, I probably wouldn't be in a hurry to book one of their other games, based on the condition of this one. It wasn't very immersive, imaginative or gripping. We did escape, we enjoyed it for what it was, but were disappointed.
