The Escape
The Unlockables - San Diego
Escape room
IRL
The separated start for this game was it’s biggest charm, especially because they have five different areas to handcuff your group! We did it with eight intelligent people, and we blew through it very quickly, and only used a hint or two. The room is designed for a bigger crowd, so I would say the ideal number is probably five or six.
The Fun House
Cross Roads Escape Games
Escape room
IRL
The set designs at Cross Roads are unlike any other. They look like something you would see at a Disney theme park! If you’re too scared to try the other two rooms, please do this one! It’s so goofy and every inch is full of charm! Our game master, David, was absolutely hilarious and super attentive! It always adds an extra layer to the experience when the game master is having just as much fun as we are!
Principal's Office
Escape Room Era - Anaheim
Escape room

Black and White Cafe
MindFox Escape
Escape room
IRL
Very cute theming and very visually impressive. It’s amazing how vibrant and alive the room feels despite being devoid of color! It’s a single room, but with a decent amount of puzzles packed in. I wouldn’t go with more than two people, maybe three if you’re beginners.
Lullaby
The Queen Mary's Dark Harbor
Haunt
Maze
This is the essential Dark Harbor haunt. It feels the most distinctly “Queen Mary”, especially because we’re able to see into the pool room for a second. There’s one scare on a bridge multiple stories above a maintenance area that is absolutely cruel and might be the best scare I’ve ever seen in a haunt!
Big Top Terror
The Queen Mary's Dark Harbor
Haunt
Haunted house
Anytime scary clown girls are involved, I’m in! I love the inclusion of legitimate classic funhouse elements, like the mirror maze and the ball pit!
Breakout and On The Run
The Queen Mary's Dark Harbor
Haunt
Maze
This haunt was LONG with some very memorable scenes. I loved the insane Spirit Halloween-esque animatronics that were all over the place!
Mater's Graveyard JamBOOree
Oogie Boogie Bash at Disneyland Resort
Haunt
Hayride
Mater’s is the definitive hidden gem of the Disneyland resort.
The Weeknd: Nightmare Trilogy
Halloween Horror Nights

Haunted house
The first Weeknd house in 2022 was my first ever HHN house. It holds a very special place in my heart and when I heard there was going to be a sequel, I was excited yet skeptical. It was going to be nearly impossible for this to surpass the first, but I think it did just that! I only went through once and I still feel like I can remember every single scene because there was not a single moment that didn’t stand out in its own way! I think it was a little less scary than the original, but more diverse from room to room, which made it more entertaining. Normally I like some sense of consistency in a haunted house, but the charm of The Weeknd is that there is no cohesive of any kind to be found. It’s a trippy clusterfuck of increasingly insane ideas. You never expect what’s about to come next, and I absolutely adore it for that!
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Legacy of Leatherface
Halloween Horror Nights
Haunt
Haunted house
This house is absolutely incredible and a great treat for fans of the franchise. It’s chock full of references and the immersion is immaculate. It’s also definitely one of the scariest houses of the year, but also has this charm that comes off as weirdly cute! So glad we got this house and Orlando didn’t!
A Quiet Place
Halloween Horror Nights
Haunt
Haunted house
This is definitely the least scary house of a year, but my god are the animatronics amazing. If you’re a fan of animatronics like me, you’ll be blown away by how much effort Universal put into this one! There’s like a dozen massive moving mechanical monsters that are all going to be trashed at the end of the year. Universal has now set the bar so high for the production value of future events.
