Escape room

I did this room in 2022 when I went on a trip and I still, to this day, rave about this room to people. Reason for that: 1. Hints system: 5/5 They don't penalise you for asking hints and have made the hint system fit exceptionally well with their theme and story. 2. Immersion: 5/5 they subtly immerse you from arrival, into the theme of the room and only got better. The feeling when you step in feels natural and As you explore through the rooms you feel you are a part of the theme / story. From beginning to the end you are thoroughly immersed in the world they've created. 3. Build quality: 5/5 each section is well set up according to theme and story, to the point you feel like you are visiting a true magic shop etc. 4. Story flow: 5/5 Puzzles and story all lead you through your experience rather logically and naturally. It made sense and everything flowed through rather smoothly. Felt like we were on a journey to become real magicians. 5. Puzzle quality: 4/5 if I had to be critical then maybe 1-2 puzzles felt slightly clunky but other than that, most of the puzzles fit into theme, story. The puzzles also made you feel like a magician when you'd complete some of My husband and I love rooms that genuinely transport you to another world. Making you feel so immersed that the world feels real. This room is one of few out of the ones we’ve done that’s achieved that level of immersion.

For their first room, they’ve done surprisingly well and polished even during our Beta testing. Those who like scary rooms will find this a wonderful experience, with some novel concepts.

We did it as a group of three and it was great! Minimum player is 3. Any more than 4 people might be too crowded. My opinion: Amazing! Simple but they’ve taken the “cabin” theme and added a unique twist to it, compared to others. A - Is it Linear? Yes, mostly B - Outside knowledge needed? No C - Spook factor? A little. Couple jump scares. 1. Hints system: 5/5 2. Immersion: 5/5 3. Build quality: 5/5 4. Story flow: 3/5 5. Puzzle quality: 4/5 6. Games mastering: 5/5

Completed with my partner. I really wanted to like it, but due to (we believe) some tech issues, not everything happened as soon as we completed certain puzzles. Here’s my opinion: - mostly linear with some multi linear puzzles. - Outside knowledge needed? e.g. Math, English specific knowledge etc… NO 1. Hints system: 3/5 Our games-master was nice enough to nudge us in the right direction at the beginning, as we weren’t sure what puzzle to start on and throughout if we seemed really stuck. 2. Immersion: 5/5 The idea of the room and general immersion was novel & great! You enter into darkness and then the world is revealed to you, which definitely helped to transport you to the world they’ve built. 3. Build quality: 3/5 Mostly lots of wear and tear or broken. Some items were coming off so it was hard to know its orientation or some technical delays caused confusion as we wouldn’t get our next item etc. 4. Story flow: 3/5 There was a very basic flow to the story but some moments didn’t make sense. 5. Puzzle quality: 2/5 Not enough basic signposting and at times it’s hard to know which lock your answer goes to. Some puzzles don’t intuitively lead you to the next step. 6. Games mastering: 3/5 customer service GM interaction etc Hint wise I believe the games master was aware when to help. But we weren’t informed of where to place our items, bathrooms and basic things like that.

Sydney Fringe Festival
Escape room
Pop up
We did this pop up escape room from this year’s Sydney Fringe Festival. Overall it was a fantastic experience. We were a 4 person group and the recommended player count is minimum 3 people. I agree, as there’s A LOT of puzzle to complete. We were surprised by the sheer amount of puzzles presented. Here’s a breakdown (in my opinion) 1. Hint system 4/5: PROS: As mentioned on their booking page, you have live interaction with (a rather friendly) death/ grim reaper (played by the creator). Live Interaction for puzzle progression and hints. Hints were rather tastefully done CON: Although I thoroughly enjoyed interacting with “Death” not everyone likes live interaction throughout the whole experience. I usually don’t like someone sitting in through the whole experience BUT “Death” was good at staying out of your way when you’re doing fine. 2. Immersion 5/5: -For a pop up, the props, character costuming and puzzle immersion quality was rather exceptional. 3.Build Quality 4/5: - All the aesthetics of the build and props were all sourced and set up by the one creator. So considering the temporary nature, it was great. It was in a nice, quaint location too. 4. Story flow 3/5: - A multi linear room can sometimes lack good story flow. It wasn’t all that easy to follow and didn’t know how it connected to the greater picture. - There were moments that felt a little unintuitive and/or repetitive but overall a unique and interesting theme and base story was intriguing! 5. Theming 5/5: Very unique theming and well executed from costuming to props and even the written clues were done thematically. 5. Puzzle quality 3.5/5 - Couple of the puzzles felt repetitive and due to the temporary nature of this room it’s understandable why some puzzles are clunky. Overall this pop up exceeded my expectations, I’ve seen regular rooms that didn’t place as much this in attention to detail of props, set up, puzzles, story etc. One issue some might have is that you will need English outside knowledge (not common knowledge).
