Crane ManorClue IQEscape roomIRLWe loved this room! Non-linear, and lots for a big group to do! We had 9 people and escaped with just a few minutes left on the clock. It's spacious, and everyone was actively working on something the whole time.
8-Bit EscapeEscape Room HerndonEscape roomIRLWe had a lot of fun in this room! The nostalgia is the main draw. From the reviews, my expectations were honestly a bit higher, but I think that it's an older room, and that shows. There were a couple of things that were "leaps," and some things that in more modern rooms would be triggered by tech, seemed to just be manually released by a GM when you got things close enough... We had just a couple of minutes left on the clock in the end, and we enjoyed our time (group of 6).
ExcaliburClue IQEscape roomIRLWe loved this room! We did it as a duo with 30ish escape rooms under our belts. It was immersive and creative. The way that they measure passed time, and their hint system, both keep it immersive. We had 2:49 left on the clock and we got 2 "hints" which were both basically "look harder over there." Overall we loved the room and will return to ClueIQ for more!
ClueBreakout Games - ColumbiaEscape roomIRLOverall, it's a fun game, but quite easy, and a lot of things didn't actually connect together but were just triggered by the game master, which was kind of strange. We did Monopoly a few weeks ago, and came back for Clue. Monopoly was much more complex and had better flow. But, Clue was fun for its set, the nostalgia of the game, and a few of the elements were unique.
Monopoly: Get Out of Jail!Breakout Games - ColumbiaEscape roomIRLThis room was super fun! We had one puzzle we got stuck on for quite a long time, but we had 14 seconds left at the end. We played with a team of 3. Loved the Monopoly theme, and there was a lot of variety in the puzzles.
Only Murders in the Building The Escape Game - NYC MidtownEscape roomIRLWe had a ton of fun doing this OMITB ER! There were 8 of us in our own group (no strangers), 2 of them were 12 y/o, and 6 adults. Only one person had never done an ER before. There was a lot for people to do, and even those who didn't know the show really enjoyed it. The cons: (NYC Midtown) -The rooms were quite small. 8 people was definitely MAX. I would recommend for a group of 2-4 though, given the choice. -The elements were quite run down (Aug 2026) - they either need to do a major refresh, or retire it, soon. -Of note, this is a makeover of "the Heist" - I haven't done that one previously, so it wasn't an issue for me at all, but worth noting. -One of the elements didn't work, and we don't think it was user error. The GM had to manually trigger something for us. Good they were able to do that, but it did take away from the immersion/ experience. -It was really warm in the room to start with, and we had a lot of people! Pros: -Super friendly staff! We were celebrating 2 August birthdays, and they brought a big banner :) -The room generally flows well. There was one place we were stuck that I truly don't think we would've progressed without a hint. -The theme was super fun, both for fans of the show as well as those who didn't know it. -They allow photos/videos in the room!
Pirates Of TortugaPanIQ Room - Long BeachEscape roomIRLWe had so much fun! Escaped w 22:16 left on the clock. Team of 4, and we've done a few rooms together before. Unique elements, great atmosphere, GM was Jenna and she was awesome (we didn't use any hints or nudges, so her job was easy... ;)
The AtticSherlock's Escape Rooms - FlorenceEscape roomIRLWe did this game 3 years ago, and it still goes down as our worst ER experience. I will note that I had a phone call with the manager afterwards, and she refunded our money, even though I wasn't asking for a refund, I just wanted to give feedback. A big part of the problem was that our game master wasn't paying attention at all. And we were the only ones in the building, so there was no excuse for that. He had no idea where we were with the puzzles, would give us a "hint" that we'd already done, etc.. BUT, the worst part is that there is a physical "skill" element that we spent at least 20 minutes on and our clock ran out. We honestly executed it with beautiful communication multiple times, and it seems that it was misaligned and impossible. At the end, our GM would not prove to us that it worked. However, in addition to this, there were other things that made the game frustrating. Multiple available of the same locks at any given time, so that if you figured out, let's say, a 4 digit code, you would have to try it on 3 different locks - one of which might be up a flight of stairs, and there was no rhyme or reason why a code would go to a particular lock. (We had one code that we were putting into the wrong lock, and when we asked for clues, our GM didn't realize that we just had the wrong lock and so even with asking for a clue it ate up a bunch of our time.) There's also a ton of "noise" in the room, meaning that there's just tons of information, dates, etc., lying around, and it's very difficult to determine what is pertinent. Some people enjoy this style. If our GM had been awake, and we didn't get stuck on one skill element for 20+ minutes, we may have been able to discern things through the noise a bit better. I strongly suggest not to do this room with 2 people. We couldn't work on anything else when we were doing the "skill" element that absolutely 100% requires 2 people, and with a bigger team, we would've had a chance to progress in other areas. Overall, we just had a terrible experience. Again, we were given the refund, and the manager spoke with me at length about our experience. I'm disappointed to see that she didn't take my suggestion to highly recommend more than 2 people to do the room. I would say minimum 4.
L’ofrenda [The Offering]Imaginarium Game Escape Game LyonEscape roomIRLAmazing room!! We were 2 Americans traveling in France, and we do not speak French. They allowed us extra time in order to be able to use google lens translate in the room, but that was a more daunting task than anticipated. They gave us an English speaking GM. We were also only 2 people and the game had a 3 person minimum, so we paid for 3 people, but they also gave us extra time considering the number of elements in the room (in addition to the language). Basically, they just didn't cut us off until we finished, which was super nice!! The room was incredible, fully immersive, the story flowed well and all of the elements really made sense. Highly recommend this room - especially for at least 3 people who speak French!
Zombie ApocalypseAll in Adventures - BowieEscape roomIRLThis was by far the worst "escape room" we've ever done. The "rooms" are more like big cubicles - the walls don't go to the ceiling, and you can hear everyone else who's in the giant room playing one of 6 or 8 games. Zero immersion, creativity or design. Pretty sure they just bought escape room "kits" and put them in these cubicles. There was one GM for the whole place when we were there. You had to try to get their attention for a hint... The one hint we needed was because we didn't break a standard ER rule of not removing certain things from certain places... Overall it was just puzzles and lockboxes, which we stood and did at a center table. We would maybe do it again for $10/person, but not at the same price as full, immersive escape rooms.
