The TempleChambers VR Escape - HonoluluEscape roomIRLGood beginner room with great special effects and linear puzzles. It was a fun half hour for our group, sad to see this place go.
The DepthsThe Escape Game - HonoluluEscape roomIRLRelatively linear but excellent range of puzzles and some really cool moments. Great production value as always, beautiful set and props.
The HeistThe Escape Game - HonoluluEscape roomIRLThe Heist feels a bit outdated compared to some of the newer games - a bit more linear, more lock-based progression. Lots of hidden doors where you'd expect them, some aren't obvious enough when they open. But being a little more old school also means there's some really lovely classic escape room moments. Overall a good time!
Scooby-Doo™ and the Spooky Castle AdventureEscapology - Raleigh HillsEscape roomIRLWe brought a 12- and 8-year-old and they had so much fun the 12-year-old wants to bring friends for her birthday in a few months. I appreciate the room has a "kid's mode" with a checklist to track the linear puzzle progression if you get stuck and extra clues in the room. We had a couple of technical issues - stuck combo lock, a mechanism didn't trigger. Overall a great beginner room.
The Ritual RoomEscapism PortlandEscape roomIRLClassic gen 1 room - lock based, linear progression with a couple branches, felt very nostalgic to play, reminded me of my first room in a nice way. Only two tech based items, which meant very low chance of items failing.
7 Deadly SinsEscapology - ClackamasEscape roomIRLThe set and atmosphere were great, very creepy. Some of the puzzles didn't really fit the theme for me. The use of tech in the puzzles was very immersive. The mechanism for the climax of the room seemed to have been a little damaged and took a few tries to trigger, no doubt due to some over-enthusiastic stabbings by previous players. My partner and I had a great time together!
Star Trek Discovery: Damage ControlEscapology - Raleigh HillsEscape roomIRLAs a lifelong Trek fan this was a lot of fun - some nice nods to major Discovery characters and the set felt really nice. Some of the puzzles didn't quite fit the theme, and one was kind of poorly designed. Almost everything is screen based, which felt appropriate for the setting. No major "wow" moments stand out in my memory, unfortunately, but my team and I enjoyed our experience together and that's ultimately what it's about.
