Pirates of the Mediterranean: The Curse of the Crystal Cavern
Top Tier Escape Rooms
Escape room
IRL
As with any of our ratings, we work on a 50 point total scale divided into 5 10-point categories. They are as follows. Location (ease of access, near other things) User Friendliness (difficulty, need for hint) Service (helpfulness, hint quality, enthusiasm) Aesthetics (decor, theme, variety) Bang for Buck (was it worth it?) We attempted to escape from the PIRATE themed room. Location: 7 While it is tucked away from the freeway, it is located on a main street and is easy to get to with plenty of parking in the lot. There are some restaurants in the area within half a mile. User Friendliness: 7 This room was fairly difficult at times and made you think outside the box a bit. We definitely got stuck on some parts where some clues were, let's say, in places we wouldn't have thought to look. With a group of 4, we still had 5-6 tasks to get through before time ran out. It's definitely doable, we just didn't get the clues how we think we should have. Service: 7 The lady working was very kind and explained all the rules ahead of time and was thorough. She was very monotone and straight forward, not really hyping up the event. When asked for hints she was very direct but didn't tell us exactly what to do. Aesthetics: 8 The decor, props, and construction of the room was very well done. Nothing seemed to be cheap and it was very well thought out of a plan. Definitely felt like we were "transported" to this situation. Only gripe was felt little small at times. They also have 3-4 other themes. Bang for Buck: 9 The price was reasonable. The theme/room was well done. If someone asked us to do another theme room here, we'd say absolutely. Overall Score: 37/50

As with any of our ratings, we work on a 50 point total scale divided into 5 10-point categories. They are as follows. Location (ease of access, near other things) User Friendliness (too easy/difficult, need for hint) Service (helpfulness, hint quality, enthusiasm) Aesthetics (decor, theme, immersion) Bang for Buck (was it worth it?) Location: 4 Getting to the place wasn’t too difficult but not right near the freeway and there wasn’t much else to do around here. Seemed to be an old hotel area and parking was limited and reserved to only specific locations. User Friendliness: 4 Many puzzles/clues were level 1 types and felt too simple at times. Did get stuck at end and had plenty of time to figure it out, but took the hint anyway. Service: 9 The game master was very friendly and you can tell that she enjoys what she is doing and puts her heart into to work. Any hint given was direct and not too over the top. Aesthetics: 4 The beginning section didn’t really warp us into the theme. As game play went on, it started to get better and better. Bang for Buck: 6 The price was reasonable and the service was very friendly and accommodating. We know their heart is in it to make great things happen in the future. Overall Score: 27/50

As with any of our ratings, we work on a 50 point total scale divided into 5 10-point categories. They are as follows. Location (ease of access, near other things) User Friendliness (too easy/difficult, need for hint) Service (helpfulness, hint quality, enthusiasm) Aesthetics (decor, theme, immersion) Bang for Buck (was it worth it?) Location: 10 Location was easy to get to, in areas where there are other things to do. It was great that there was bowling and a place to eat in the same venue. Really good spot if you wanted to do more than just a room. User Friendliness: 7 All of the clues and locks and puzzles were easy to use and read and understand. Hints were said that we could have them given on an as needed basis, but once we pushed the button for a hint we would get intermittent hints about every 7-10 minutes. The puzzles were different in variety and were well planned out. Service: 6 The staff were friendly and supportive. But there wasn’t much more than showing us our game space, turning on a video, and a thank you picture in the end. Aesthetics: 7 There was moderate level of feel of immersion into the scenario. Some of the props were worn from use and definitely had the feel of needing to be replaced but overall was pretty decent. The waiting room was nice and comfortable as well. Bang for Buck: 9 The price was reasonable - thank you Groupon - and the overall experience was good. We did eat at the restaurant beforehand and enjoyed the overall atmosphere. We would do another room from this company. Overall Score: 39/50
