The Morrison Game FactoryPostCuriousEscape roomTabletopWho knew that a escape room in a box could capture so much humor, emotion, and genuine joy? PostCurious is my favorite company for play at home games and I’ve long said that they can rival many in person games. Morrison Game Factory was a deviation from their typical output, being more story driven and less puzzle focused, but it was no less a masterful piece of game and narrative design. I loved every second of the game (save for one search based step that felt a bit too broad).
Box One By Neil Patrick HarrisTheory11 OnlineEscape roomTabletopHonestly this was the closest I’ve seen an escape room in a box come to replicating the joy of an in person room (not that it shares similarities). It’s a magic trick that deserves to be played with as little knowledge of it prior as possible.
The Curious Elevator of Mr. HincksBluefish GamesEscape roomTabletopThe Curious Elevator of Mr. Hincks is a great example of doing a lot with a little in terms of components. The high quality design and elegance of the components made for some super fun moments that combined 2D design with 3D manipulation, especially in one very fun and surprising moment. It’s a genuinely charming game, from its humor to its inventive twists on word puzzles to its creatively designed interface - whether you are a first time escape room player or an enthusiast, you’ll find something you love in this game.
Pandora's LegacyPostCuriousEscape roomTabletopWow - this is one of the best play at home games I’ve experienced. From the meticulously designed jigsaw to the large variety of challenging yet beautifully elegant puzzles, Pandora’s legacy delivers so much within a format I’ve often seen disappoint. If you love jigsaws and escape rooms, this is a must play - very few games have absorbed me this much in their gameplay and design.
