Rikers, 1932BrainXcape Escape Room NYCEscape roomIRLThought overall the gameplay flowed pretty well and linearly. A high volume of puzzles, so it’s very rough for two people; I’d suggest 3-5. Nothing was an insane leap in logic; monitor only interaction was an interesting touch. Last room was very padlock based; would have loved something higher tech since this reminded me of older escape rooms I used to do. No plot either really or story; I think having a stronger theme or story could have enhanced gameplay. However the game master, Paul, was amicable, responsive, and very helpful! We wouldn’t have completed the room without him.
Locked-Up SupermaxMind Trap Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThe set design was gorgeous; nice prison break tribute (you’ll know what I mean if you play it) but gameplay was very very nonlinear and some clues were a huge stretch of the imagination. My least favorite room at Mindtrap. I don’t think clues should ever come easily to players but they also shouldn’t be so farfetched either….like the associations for some clues were super weak at best. One of the locks also malfunctioned. The game master was cool. Basically almost impossible for two players; you’d need at least 3.
