Fun Loving Criminals
Fatboy's Escape Room
Escape room
IRL
We’ve now played both rooms at this business, and enjoyed both overall. The best part of both experiences was the staff - the GM is one of the owners and is a super sweet lady. You can tell she really loves what she does and puts her heart into what is otherwise an average small town ER. This was their first room and you can tell as the design is pretty basic. Unfortunately, the decor doesn’t really make you feel like you’re in the theme of the room. However, the gameplay and puzzles are fun and have a few unique and tricky attributes. We played with only 3 of our team members and with a couple of nudges made it through with time to spare. Out of the two rooms here, this was the lesser in our opinion. But, it’s still worth the time if you’re visiting or passing through this small town. Plus, if you have time, try the food from the attached pizza place!

The was the first room our team played here, and was an overall fun experience. The owners are great people and make you feel welcome. The design and decor of this room is better than their other room, and although not spectacular, it fits the theme well and has a few fun elements. We particularly enjoyed some of the posters in and outside the room in the lobby. The puzzles were fun, unique, and a few were challenging. One involves use of smell, and was difficult for some team members who had issues with sense of smell post-COVID. If you’re passing through the area we definitely recommend a stop here.

Unfortunately, our team considered this room overall mediocre at best. The decor was themed well but lacked creativity. A few puzzles seemed out of place for the room, and it lacked technological elements. At least one of the puzzles requires, or at least will be rather difficult if not, knowledge of Alice that you won’t gain from the room. Otherwise the room was pretty easy and mostly linear. The location of this room is unique and somewhat obscure. They are on the 3rd floor of a museum building, and you have to navigate the halls and stairs to find it, but the signage is good and parking is free and bountiful on evenings and weekends. The GM was kind, and willing to wait as some members of our team arrived a few minutes late after being stuck at a railway crossing. In the end, we felt that this theme could have been so much better developed, but this would be a good starter room and would work well for kids or teens.

I’ll be leaving a much more detailed review on Google, and I covered a lot of important aspects in the detail section above, so please see those comments. The abbreviated version… as experienced ER players with almost 40 rooms under our belt of many difficultly levels, all over the country, this is the first time I was left wishing I could have an hour of my life back. It’s the first time I’ve played a room that doesn’t match the website description at all. The staff was friendly and the lobby of the place was clean and welcoming, but the positives ended there. The fact that these are 50 minute rooms on a 1 hour schedule helps show that the owners care more about moving as many players through to make money than making the experience great for the guests. Kind of ironic, as almost any location I’ve played I would give a second, third, etc. try as long as more rooms were available. Definitely would not be back here.
