Scooby, Shaggy, and the gang need your mystery-solving help…or else! The town of Crystal Cove and surrounding areas are being terrorized by monsters and ghosts, and now the local Baroness Maria Richman has gone missing and it is suspected that the ghost sightings have something to do with it! Tasked with solving the crime, you arrive at the same conclusion as Mystery Incorporated. But when you get to the Spooky Castle, Mystery Inc. gets locked out, at the same time you get locked in! You soon realize that they’re able to help by communicating clues via magic portraits inside the Castle. After discovering a secret dungeon and monster lab in the castle, you come to the conclusion that the person responsible almost certainly works in the castle - but who could it be as there are several suspects??

Scooby Doo and the Spooky Castle Adventure is a colourful and entertaining experience that captures the playful spirit of the cartoon while still offering enough challenge to keep adult players engaged. From the moment we arrived, the experience felt welcoming thanks to the friendly staff and the venue’s polished ambience. Our group had six players, and while the opening section felt a little cramped at that size, the game itself flowed well once we settled in. Four players would probably be the ideal number for comfort and pacing. The room initially gives the impression that it may be quite straightforward, but the difficulty develops nicely as the game progresses. Later puzzles required solid communication and logical thinking, balancing lighter tasks with more satisfying problem-solving moments. The design consistently made sense within the theme, which helped maintain immersion throughout. What stood out most was the atmosphere. The colourful sets, music, and character interactions genuinely created the feeling of stepping into a Scooby Doo episode. Despite the family-friendly theme, the experience never felt childish, and our all-adult group still had a great time. We escaped with very little time remaining, which made for a satisfying finish to a thoroughly enjoyable game.

Had a great first visit to Escapology doing the Scooby Doo Castle Adventure room. Perfect room for 2 players, medium difficulty. Everything worked. GM Zooey was super helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable and made us want to come back and try the other rooms.

Girl - out of all do the rooms I’ve done, this is the only one I somehow did not escape out of?? (Give me a break - we were with a large group who didn’t have experience with escape rooms) but it was fun and the immersion was great

Don’t let the theme fool you! While the aesthetic is Scooby-Doo, you should know two things: 1) Outside of the picture frames in the first room, there’s very little to keep you in the theme; 2) While it is themed off a children’s cartoon, this is not a beginner’s room. There’s a lot of observation and making connections required. Each puzzle solves very differently than the one before it, and some puzzles are quite novel.

Gameplay

The puzzles were exceptionally varied, including many interactions we’d not seen before (though it wasn’t free from tropes).

Story

The story was paper thin, and there were many times it was difficult to hear the story, as sometimes the audio would be double-tracked with a slight delay that created a garbled mess.
