8.2/10 The Cookhouse is just another strong example of how 13th Hour know how to do escape rooms. This room falls into the overall story and theme of the murderous Hayden family. All the puzzles and tasks are on theme and fit so well with this story. The strongest part of this experience was the beginning in our opinion. The actual kitchen had such great detail and made it a very unique experience, but as we progressed through the game, we felt the level of detail fell off a bit. The best parts of this game were based in this area and we wish the other rooms felt more connected with it. This is a more search heavy room as well. There were a few times that we got stumped and that was because we didn’t search specific areas well enough which would’ve lead to the next thing. 13th Hour has a great lineup of rooms, including The Cookhouse, but might be found lower on our totem poll of their games. We would prefer some of their other games but we do not often give hearts on this app. When we do it’s because they truly deserve it and 13th Hour most definitely do deserve it with The Cookhouse.

Disappointing Experience – Won’t Be Returning We have been to 13th Hour Escape Rooms multiple times and have completed several of their rooms, including two of their more challenging ones. We had high expectations based on our past experiences, but after our most recent visit, we won’t be coming back—ever. We booked The Great Room and The Cook House, and while the rooms themselves were well-themed and decorated, the experience was completely ruined by an unprofessional and intrusive game master. From the very beginning, they bombarded us with unsolicited hints before we even had a chance to request them. It felt like we weren’t even playing the game ourselves—just being spoon-fed solutions. At one point, my boyfriend and I were discussing a puzzle (not arguing in any dramatic way), and the game master actually came into the room to assist without being asked. Then at the end, they had the audacity to say, “I don’t like when my groups fight.” Excuse me? First of all, it wasn’t a fight. Second, we paid to solve the puzzles, not to be patronized. The Cook House was even worse. This is supposed to be their easiest room, but despite having completed 30+ escape rooms (including two tough ones at this very location), the game master treated us like complete amateurs. The second we didn’t get something instantly, they spammed hints nonstop, making it impossible to actually work through the puzzles ourselves. And at the end? They smugly said, “You’re welcome for spamming the hints button.” As if we should be grateful that they completely removed the challenge from the experience. To top it off, I wanted to shop at the end, but I was so frustrated that we just walked out. The game master literally led us out the door as if we were being dismissed. We still had two more rooms left to complete here, but honestly? We won’t be finishing them. We’re also skipping any of the haunts they offer because we have no interest in giving them another cent. If you want an escape room experience where you can actually think for yourself, go somewhere else.

Went with kids and mommy and maan. This is the one Rhys crawled out under the toilet in a secret passage with a dead body at the end.

The puzzle needs to face lift as they are getting a bit old. However, I still enjoyed it regardless.
Flows relatively well.

This room was so much fun and was so interactive! I love when rooms have an interactive environment! One of the best parts of 13th hours escape rooms is that they avoid having unnecessary locks and have creative ways to unlock the next clue or door! Definitely going back to complete the Wizard of Oz!

13th hour is our favorite escape room. We are constantly trying to find new escape rooms since we have done everything around our home already but we always end up back at 13th hour. The decor is PHENOMENAL, storylines all line up and follow each other. Rooms are all challenging but fun. Slightly scary!

What an awesome place! This room was so well put together. It had us on our feet! Some of the puzzles really stumped us but it was challenging in a good way. The game master was awesome and helpful and gave good hints. We love the story line! We are definitely coming back!

For whatever reason we saved this room for second to last in the John Hayden series even though I’m pretty sure it’s one of the easier ones! This room theme was super fun and an awesome addition to the “John Hayden House”. I actually thought this was super fun and the tech in this room was great. I wouldn’t say it was my fav out of them all but it was still so good and I highly recommend!
