It has been 30 long months since the Declaration was sent to King George III. It is now February 22nd, 1779 and the War for Independence continues. You and your fellow Partisans have just been informed that Commander George Rogers Clark will arrive with a significant force in the next day or two to attack and retake Fort Sackville on the Wabash River. His command is near freezing and water logged, and one of his scouts has made you aware that they have lost or been separated from most of their black powder stores. He has asked your group to locate enough black powder to conduct the battle. Several of your group have gone out to seek hidden stores amongst the citizenry of Vincennes, but you are already certain about where a good amount is located…in the weapons cache of Fort Sackville itself! One of your party has a covert method of getting into Commander Henry Hamilton’s office at Fort Sackville. It is your understanding that his office is somehow connected to the weapons store. Find the black powder and escape the Fort within 60 minutes and you may help secure the western territory for your fledgling nation.

Unique period setting room with some good props, sets, and atmosphere. Never played a game like it at all before which is part of the appeal. I wish the game leaned more into the props rather than just clues on signs or paper. There aren’t many puzzles, but most of them are solid and somewhat fit into the time period. One puzzle irked us because we got a solution a certain way (which technically didn’t follow a specific prompt) but were told that it didn’t count and we had to start over because it was not following the rules of the puzzle. We felt pretty smart for solving it our way. I’m not upset at the fact that we were told to reset it, as much as I am disappointed that such a puzzle has all these specific rules and conditions in the first place. I feel if players can achieve a solution through clever means, then let them feel smart finding the answer in their own way instead of confining them to solving it the creator’s intended way. Rant aside, I did enjoy that puzzle and the rest of the room. That part just dampened the mood a little for us.
