I wanted so bad to like this game. We got done playing Armadillo Escape in Katy and thought they were pretty good. The beginning of this game was okay. Opening up into the room was good. But there was some major flaws. From decor that was falling apart to finding a major flaw in game design to the GM at the end not admitting the broken parts of the game, it was extremely frustrating. First the decor. There were parts of the room paneling that was falling off of the walls and a broken part that was crucial for the start of the game. Instead of repairing, they just left the piece in place to fall apart again for the next team. I can understand wear and tear but based on experience (being a GM and builder) that needs to be repaired asap. They make you stay in your car seemingly so they can “get the room ready” but they don’t repair anything during that time. This location was not so personable as the Katy location set the standard for this company. I was able to complete one of the rooms final puzzles by accident, which you can’t really tell is the end, but instead of the GM accepting and admitting that we found a design flaw and it would be brought up to management, he said that the whole room had to be completed in order for the final piece to count even though you don’t get anything else by completing the other puzzles in the room. When I questioned that logic he became frustrated with us. In the other room as the GM was walking us around, the puzzle clues point you to one direction yet it seems you are expected to know how puzzles work before you do them. Yes we played the “expert” level but still it should not be expected that we know exactly how puzzles work before we attempt them. I’m very sad about our experience at this location after experiencing Armadillo’s dark cypher game which was great in my opinion except for the audio. Well 2 out 3 ain’t bad I guess.
