"Dr. Robert Kieling had Solitude Heights Asylum built in 1931 to treat the criminally insane. But there seems to be more to Solitude Heights than just a facility to help those in need. Whispers of mysterious deaths and unexplained phenomena are abound… It’s the first day and already rumors spread of patients going missing and experiments gone wrong. Your stomach rumbles, is that your nerves or was something wrong with that dose of medication the nurse just gave you. What do you do? Not sure, but as panic sets in the clock starts to tick faster and faster. You must act quickly, or who knows what might happen….. Will you be able to uncover the secrets? Will you survive long enough to escape the mysteries of the asylum? Save yourself while you can….. or you could forever be lost in the archives!"

Good room for 2 with some fun puzzles. But we got out way too fast (about 30-35 mins), and we weren’t rushing at all. The only saving grace was that we did this as a back-to-back with Chapter 2, so the brevity of this room wasn’t quite as noticeable. Definitely recommend the back-to-back experience if you have the time so spare! The live actors at the beginning did a great job setting the scene and really created a positive interactive experience, but I’m glad they were not there throughout the whole experience. We liked being able to just do our own thing, and it was great that they honored our wishes to have zero hints.

We did this as a two-part room experience and while I preferred the other room, I still thought this was a great experience. The intro segment and journey into the room were incredible and got you right into the theme

The setup and the hint interaction is great. The gameplay is nonlinear, and there is so much to do. It was difficult as we only had 2 people and we BARELY got out. I would recommend at least 3 people, 4 might be better for this room. But it was so fun and immersive.

Having only 2 people made this room difficult.

Spooky is kind of a stretch, but the elements are there if you look for them.

This game was a lot of fun to play. It had a really good atmosphere and set design, but our game master Lance did a really good job of helping with the immersion. Would recommend!

Amazing game master Lance, he definitely made the experience 100x better! But the room itself was really cool, love the set design.

This was a great escape room experience, particularly for the immersiveness into the story. The set design and acting was a notch above the rest and really took this from a 👍🏼 to a ❤️ for me. The puzzles were also inventive and challenging, not to mention they fit the theming of the story very well. As other reviewers have said, I would highly recommend booking the 2-part story (this is chapter 1 and Playtime is chapter 2) back-to-back and just continuing from the first escape room into the second without a break. My only critique of this room is that I would have liked to have more puzzles to fill our time and make it even more challenging. As an escape room enthusiast, I am always looking for the most challenging rooms I can find, so that is usually my critique at most places.
One of the most unique escape room experiences I’ve had.
All the GMs/actors were so great here!
Yes
Much more immersive storytelling than your typical escape room.
Hard
There were an above average difficulty puzzle or two in this room that bumped my rating up to Hard, but I am a bit torn between a Medium and Hard.

2 - 3 is great for this space. We did it with 4 and it was a touch crowded, but we still all got to be a part of each puzzle for the most part.

One part where everyone has to crawl. But I think there is a way you could probably avoid crawling if you want to, just let the GM know in advance.

I really enjoyed this room. I thought the set design was great and the puzzles were really fun to work through. We did a group of four and honestly it felt like too much. I think less would have been a bit better as there would be more room to move around and get things done. I recommend this game to people that feel that they are good with puzzles and want a bit of a challenge to their room.
“Hint system was an integral part of the experience. It [made] it more than a collection of puzzles.“
