The Weeping Witch is a spirit that lures people close by mimicking the sound of a woman crying. When people hear its wails, they follow the sound into the darkness, thinking someone needs help. Once they get close enough, the Witch attacks and slowly sucks the life out of its victims. If you choose to enter Madam Ruby’s study, that is what is awaiting you. Will you be able to banish the evil spirit and end your family curse before the Weeping Witch consumes you too?

This was billed as a “terrifying” room, and although it was not in fact terrifying, it was very well done. It is hard to do good puzzles and try to scare the players at the same time, because most people’s puzzle-solving skills deteriorate under pressure. This game balances that very well by separating “scary time” from “puzzle time” in extremely clear ways. The upside of this is that they are able to include some good, complicated puzzles. The downside of this is that there is very little actual fear value because you know when it’s coming. That said, the multiple different places and ways by which the “witch” appears are impressive, and the finale in particular is very cool. If you are afraid of the dark or prone to falling for jump scares then I could see how this room would live up to its billing, but for me it was much less impactful than e.g. Project Minotaur or The Last Supper. Still, a great set, a good story, cool effects, solid puzzles, and a live actor: what’s not to like? Highly recommended.

Extremely well done puzzles, great use of effects to build suspense and scare us, and very well done scares that were very unsuspecting. Niko was very nice as well as our GM.

This room was an amazing experience for horror fanatics like us!! Our game master went above and beyond during scares and encounters. Although we were not able to escape this room it was an amazing experience. Puzzles were a bit difficult for us but overall a great room.

Wow. Incredible room! Puzzles matched the theme well and the game had a lot of surprises. Our GM Mina was amazing and gave us the best experience!

There wasn’t any real story to this room. I’m still not sure what we were supposed to be doing. We arrived and were surprised at the amount of space in the 2 huge lobbies. But when we got to the actual escape room it was so small it was difficult to move around. There was a table in the middle of the room which was too big for the room. They told us not to pay attention to anything above our reach so we didn’t see a puzzle moving high up near the ceiling. That’s how we caught on to the game master operating the locks. I felt turning off the lights multiple times and making us stand in the dark waiting for him to get in front of us to scare us was an attempt to make up for weak game design and it was purposely meant to throw us off. The jump scare in one part was okay but it wasn’t anything worth the cost of the room. The puzzles looked good but it didn’t make sense as to how they fit into the room. I’ve done close to 200 games and I know from just common sense that the locks were being opened by the game master behind the scene. To test it we pretended to put a puzzle piece on a puzzle and the lock opened. To try to make the game immersive we had to stand around a couple of the puzzles and chant. They weren’t sound activated locks so to me it was just another time waster. Overall we went because of all the good reviews but it was a big let down.

Standout horror experience. TOTALLY worth the wait and superseded expectation. So many horror experiences feel cheap due to actor integration - scare to feel scary without purpose and fault the flow of an experience. Every single moment drew fear, but felt new and exciting, while being theatrical. Each moment had our team’s hearts racing, but the scares never pushed beyond the limit. Crossroads pushes to that line, but never made you feel unsafe. Super theatrical, great story and full-circle moments and INTENSE. Loved this experience.

I'm approaching 150 rooms. I've done many TERPECA top 100 rooms or nominees. The Weeping Witch is a standout in any category, horror or no. The puzzle signposting is so elegant and so clear. The props are delightfully substantial. The horror is well-telegraphed, dramatic, and shocking. The puzzles are challenging, varied, and thematic. The hint system provides joy and levity as a palette cleanser for the horror. Few games provide so much umph into such a small space. Truly a delight.

Weeping Witch was a masterclass in making a Horror Escape Room instead of a horror experience with light tasks. The use of sound, lighting, and movement meant you knew exactly when you were safe and when you should be screaming. The puzzles were solid and the scares were done MASTERFULLY. The set was intimate but constantly evolving and alwaysfelt alive. The ending was spectacular. This is truly a game that lived up to the hype and one of the premier experiences in the LA area that is worth traveling for.

One of my recent favorites! Clever game inputs and excellent puzzle flow. Scare effects super effective, and glad that you don’t feel menaced the entire time.
“Everything in the room that moved was justified, exciting, and surprising.“
