A woman named Josie has recently passed away, leaving behind a storage room filled with decades of collected memories and cryptic secrets. Remnants of her entire life are all here in one place - left for you to discover. But in her old age, she has become almost unrecognizable, warped by the tragic events of her past. The Nest is an intimate, live experience for two audience members at a time, combining elements of immersive theater, narrative video games, serialized podcasts, and escape rooms into a new way to experience a story. Equipped with a flashlight, search through personal effects, explore your surroundings, and listen to audio cassettes to piece together the dramatic narrative of Josie's life.

I loved it when I first played it, and now I help run the experience as a GM at Hatch! So thankful I get to live vicariously through this amazing show over and over again!

It was truly more of a sentimental experience than anything. Don’t try to focus on the time you have left or the puzzles while listening to the tapes, this is meant to walk you through the story of this woman’s life and it was done so beautifully and intimately. The story from the tapes is the most rewarding and memorable thing you’ll get out of this experience. It’s a bit spooky atmosphere but nothing scary and nothing will jump out at you. Honestly, I cried a lot. I needed more tissues. It was really memorable.

Do not treat this like an escape room. Treat this like an experience as you take in the life of this person who has created this nest. We all create nests and it's good to take a step back and review one's nest. Truly take your time, for it runs against all of us, but if you run with it here you're just doing yourself a disservice. Would suggest 2 of you.

This is a depressing story without much pay off. The voice acting is passable. The best part of the experience is the production value

Loved this experience. Very immersive and unique, a definite must do!

For starters, not an escape room. Immersive experience that takes you through a life via the possessions one leaves behind. Very sweet and nostalgic.

Great set design, thoughtfulness, and very much a get out what you put in. I personally wasn’t super into the story. Had some really unique puzzles. The last room hit home more for the emotional aspect.

I can not recommend any other room in California more than I do The Nest. Every single step of this story had me immersed. It was gut wrenching, full of love, made me question my own life, at times, and gave me an emotional release I didn’t know I needed. This one… this game… was everything I needed at the time I played and I can’t wait to visit again.

This experience is unlike anything I’ve experienced before. The combination of set design, interaction and detail progression - really brought the story to life for me. I did this escape room with my partner for his birthday and the shared experience added a layer of reflection and connection to the narrative that I will remember forever. I cried at the end. It was touching and I would highly recommend going into this with an open mind and an open heart. You can get more out of the immersion that way. Would recommend this for 2 people at most and to go in with the expectation that this is not an escape room. Be attentive of time but enjoy every minute. Parking could be difficult here because of LA street parking so allot a few minutes before your start time to secure that parking.

This experience is absolutely incredible. As a fan of video games like Firewatch and What Remains of Edith Finch, this really resonated with me. The characters are well written, the story is moving, and the room itself blends the whole experience together, being both claustrophobic and comforting at different points throughout the story. The puzzles lend really well to that same feeling, that you are exploring a person’s life and sensibilities, rather than trying to outsmart or defeat them. All in all, a fantastic time, and well worth the time and money.

Immersive theather experience (NOT an escape room) The Nest was designed for 1-2 guests. Larger groups might have to take turns going through certain spaces, or else be very comfortable cuddling. Groups cannot be larger than 4. The Nest utilizes a haze machine and requires walking, ducking, navigating small spaces, and standing for periods of time. Guests may experience moments of complete darkness and solitude. You may reschedule or cancel if your reservation is over 48 hours away. If you are within the 48-hour window, we will be unable to change or cancel the booking. Unfortunately, due to our location in a pre-ADA building, The Nest is not accessible to wheelchair users. In addition, it is not recommended for audience members who are not comfortable with walking, ducking, navigating small spaces, standing for extended periods of time, moments of complete darkness, being alone, or for those who are affected by claustrophobia. Should you be sensitive to haze and fog effects, you may not want to go through The Nest, as haze is used throughout.

The Nest is not an escape room, but rather an interactive immersive theater piece - scratch that, not even theater, more interactive, immersive story telling. There are no actors, and there aren’t a whole lot of puzzles to solve. There’s no time pressure, but it won’t take too long anyway. Instead of a thrilling adventure, you leave thinking about your life and those around you, a profoundly different experience than an escape room, and even different than theater, because unlike immersive theater where you’re still ostensibly an observer, just inside the fourth wall, at The Nest, you are very much a part of the story. The fact that this story takes place in a storage unit, that is housed in an actual old storage facility, makes it that much more amazing. There is heart and soul to this experience, and one that all should do.
