The Apartment Nextdoor - A Dark Experience

A fun and spooky ghost story. No jump scares. Unlike the other (two) dark rooms I've done, you'll need to find/manipulate some small objects (e.g. keys); fumbling/dropping them could be frustrating. The audio is important but was a little hard to make out in a few places. Another audio issue we had was that the hints from the GM were difficult to hear because they sometimes came from a different room. Afterwards, we got a look at the rooms with the lights on, and they were completely different from how we imagined them!

the experience was really fun! it was a super big difference being completely pitch black. the puzzles were fun and mostly easy to understand. there were 2 of us and it was the perfect amount. I would not try this room with any more than 4 people as there really isnt much room to move around, other than that it was super fun!!

Not your typical room! This room is in COMPLETE darkness. It adds a very fun and spooky element to the game. Obviously I’m darkness there aren’t a lot of puzzles to actually solve but the way they did it was very neat. I would have loved this game except a couple things weren’t quite working properly or were delayed. I do recommend this room if you want a much different escape room experience.

My first pitch black experience and this wont be my last! We LOVED the pitch black room. Its not a typical escape room as they heavily rely on audio cues. Would recommend a smaller group and friends that you are close with as often times you will accidentally running into them. Great for couples. I wish they had more dark experiences!

Not withstanding unintended possible #MeToo moments, this room was completely in the dark and so much fun. If you’re scared of the dark, I would stay away. But if you can manage that fear, take a deep breath and let go of it, you’ll have a great time. It’s the perfect room for inappropriate and hilarious comments. We escaped with a group of 5 and I think that’s the sweet spot for most rooms. I highly recommend this room! The complete darkness was really cool.

Unique room. You are completely in the dark, so communication with others is important.

The best part is when your game finishes and you see the room with the lights on. =)

Hope you are not afraid of the dark because that's all you're getting in this room. I usually hate rooms that rely on darkness to make a room difficult, but this felt different. Setting the expectation that you'll stay in the dark so that you may not rely on your eyes, but rather sound, great communication with your team and articulating how an object feels is brilliant. The storyline is gripping with a twist at the end that'll make you shut your eyes. We had 4 people, but could have had 1 more person to help out. Since you're in the dark, forget traditional locks or puzzles in this room!

Extremely immersive, especially toward the end of the experience. I would like to give this room a “loved it” rating, but: The gameplay was ruined at a couple of points by the audio queues. They were largely automatic and the GM said they did not have the control to turn them off. At one point the audio tracks were even playing over top of one another. It was kind of a mess.
