Hannibal the Cannibal

Probably my least favorite escape room I’ve done… and have done a lot in the area. The puzzles don’t seem to connect to one another and there are a few puzzles that are very time consuming and difficult.. so much so that the 1 GM couldn’t solve it after coming in and trying for 20 minutes… asking for a hint takes upwards of 10 minutes for a response due to short staffing only being able to help one group at a time… and if the other rooms are as poorly executed as this one - that’s understandable. The only escape room I’ve not completed… disappointed is an understatement.

The cannibal room has potential. The puzzles did not really have anything to do with the story and the whole story was lost in general in my opinion. I feel like they need to play through the room a couple more times and connect the puzzles to the story instead of making them feel random. Also it was very hard to get a clue. We never got our last clue after waiting and asking got 5 minutes

Themeing was great, loved the spooky vibes. Getting a clue was tough as we waited 3-4 minutes as there was only 1 game master and he was helping others so we had to walk out into the hallway to get his attention. Well aware that this was the hardest room and we enjoyed the level of difficulty however we did not enjoy the fact that there was 1 item that was a manual trigger - meaning it did not automatically engage/trigger when the correct symbols were entered, the game master had to trigger it. In his opinion he did not trigger it as we did not physically have all 4 aspects of the code and had essentially used process of elimination to figure out the last piece. We feel this hindered our ability to complete the game and forced us to focus on one challenging puzzle that admittedly took the game master himself 15-20 minutes to solve. Being avid players we feel some escape rooms have aspects that can be solved out of order and won’t hinder other aspects of game play, and sometime process of elimination is a skill that can get you to the answer needed. Other than that the room is well done and I appreciate the different types of puzzles and that not everything is a lock or key.

although we had all the pieces to the final puzzle, it took us a moment to put it together… it may have been because we were tired since it was our second to last escape room for the day (11+ escape rooms, i think). i thought the theme was well-executed. i was able to get a bit creative with how i approached one of the puzzles as the intended method appeared time-consuming. The room was average. They needed more help, only one GM working from what I could tell so that messed with the flow of the game a lot.
