This game was very challenging, but again the set design at this place is certainly something to see! We had a great time in this room. There were some tech-ish issues, but the puzzles were fun and the space was beautiful.

Cutthroat Cavern was the 4th game we did at 13th Gate. This was the one I had been waiting for. I've done so many pirate rooms, yet this room was what people talked about. The company is known for their amazing set design and after doing Tomb of Anubis, could anything top that? In short, YES. Cutthroat Cavern is THE most impressive massive set I've ever played in a game. Most pirate games take place in a room on a ship. The best ones (ahem, Captain Spoopy Bones) take place across an entire ship. Then there's this game. Sure there was a ship, but there's also a jungle temple and a whole cove. IT'S HUGE. Also, lots of real sand. We dumped it out of our shoes on the way home. The puzzles were definitely not easy but they were somewhat intuitive. 13th Gate uses an "automated" clue system that they bake into most of their rooms. Someone, like a cat in Spellbound or another victim in The Collector, gives you a pre-recorded clue when you need help. In this game, of course, it's a parrot. The effect works surprisingly well and the gamemaster stays on top of things to jump in if the automated response isn't helpful. The only issue in this game was that you could only hear the parrot in certain rooms. We encountered the same issue in Asylum. There was a nice flow as well. I will say that out of all their games, Cavern had a amazing plot twist storyline which I really found heartwarming. Didn't see that coming. And honestly, this didn't come across as your typical pirate game. This was more of an homage to Indiana Jones as well as the Goonies then Pirates of the Caribbean. This game had one big issue that ALL of 13th Gate's games have. These are 60 minute rooms that really need to be 75 minute rooms. There's a LOT of puzzling to be done. We were a group of 4 and we ran over and they let us keep going. Come to 13th Gate for pretty much any & all of the games here. Put Cutthroat as a must-do experience (along with Anubis and Flight 13). This company is worth the 90 minute drive from New Orleans. If you are coming out, plan to spend the whole day there & do all of their games. .

This is an incredible game in terms of atmosphere and set. The puzzles and storyline were good enough, with some aspects weβve never seen before. Like everyone says, itβs an absolutely must do!
Puzzles were overall good, but there were a couple of tedious ones as well.
Atmosphere is everything itβs hyped up to be!
As always, the 13th Gate customer service is extremely subpar. I gave a thumbs up because they didnβt do anything inherently wrong and our GM was attentive, but you can tell theyβre just trying to get people in and out as fast as possible, and have no interest in geeking out over the escape rooms or experience. In fact, we were shuffled out of the room without even so much as being asked if we had any questions about the room or puzzles.

Incredible experience. Challenging puzzles, VERY high quality props. Even the clues were themed. Probably one of the highest production rooms in the country. This is pirates of the carribean level of stagecraft. Our family of 4 did NOT escape, but we came close and had a blast. We'd do it again just for the experience.

As everyone else has said, the set really is extraordinary. Definitely worth doing the game for that reason. There was a good assortment of puzzles, and one mechanism weβd never seen before which was cool. That being said, I have to admit to being disappointed. Part of the reason is that a technical problem robbed us of the biggest dramatic reveal. And part of the reason is just that my expectations were so high. Iβd recommend that anyone thinking about doing this game avoid watching the promotional video, which gives away too much that is cool. Also some of the puzzles were just kind of annoying. The clue system (not iPads) was frustrating too. Ultimately Iβm glad I did this game, but for all its fancy reputation there are games Iβve definitely enjoyed a lot more.

Some physical elements, but not all players have to participate
Elements would be difficult for those with auditory or visual limitations. As a person with mobility issues, I found the nature of the surface underfoot challenging.

Absolutely loved everything about this room and it ranks one of my all time favorites. It was like stepping into an indiana jones movie and there is a reveal that beats just about everything Iβve seen in an escape room. The puzzles were hard and diverse, using everyone in my partyβs skill set. Cannot wait to do it again at some point in the future.

This is hands down one of the best rooms I've ever done! The production value of this room is phenomenal. There were so many moments when my group audibly reacted to something in the room. This room is a MUST DO if you're in Baton Rouge! Ignore this endorsement at year own peril! Ye Be Warned!
This room had some very novel puzzles and mechanics.
PHENOMENAL atmosphere! Seriously one of the best rooms I've ever done!
Great welcoming staff that was very helpful and friendly!

MUST PLAY Pros: - Am I in Disneyland? Is this Indiana Jones? Truly the most elaborate and coolest set Iβve ever seen in my life - GM (Peyton) was funny - Had to do things Iβve never done in an escape room before Cons: - Puzzles require finding or looking at small objects - Some clues are misleading - Because the room was so massive, I canβt fucking hear anybody - Story doesnβt exist basically, ending is underwhelming 9/10 (amazing, a must play, but not perfect) (Honestly the production value hard carries it, the other aspects are more average)

βCutthroat Cavern is so damn good that simply put, no game can hold a candle to it...β
βI'd have to say that I experienced sensations that I have not felt in a long time ...β
βIt was an incredible ... game from the set, to the events, to the effects, to the overwhelming scaleβ
