Bonkers. Just bonkers. Man this game is MAGICAL. I can see why it’s the best in the world. Our GM was delightful, the set design was the best I’ve ever witnessed (and I’ve witnessed quite a few) and the puzzles flowed really well. The finale was the best I’ve ever experienced
Wonderful game! Puzzles flowed really well. Plenty to work on for everyone!
Best set I’ve ever played. INSANE EFFECTS. Especially at the end. It’s a marvel

A fully immersive experience that makes you feel more like you’re in a fantasy movie than an escape room. Absolutely mind-blowing reveals and the production value is insane. Creative puzzles that blend perfectly with the story. This is our #2 ranked room out of over 220 rooms across 9 countries. Escape Couple rating: 6🗝️ Best of the Best (our scale is a 1-6🗝️ system)
Completely immersive with mind blowing reveals.
While the room isn’t meant for two people they can modify for experienced escapers which we REALLY appreciate!

Easily the best escape room I’ve EVER done. My husband and I escaped with 5 mins to spare. The tech in this room is INCREDIBLE. The whole room is your puzzle. It incorporates all 5 senses. The beginning and ending will make your jaw DROP. Side note: hard to find this place, but it’s dead center Amsterdam!

Exceptional! Absolutely breathtaking experience. Must play when you are in Amsterdam or come to Amsterdam specifically to play (like we did).

The Alchemist was truly a joyful and triumphant room from beginning to end. The buildup, the reveals, the puzzles, everything was just fun and satisfying. And the ending? Might be my single favorite moment in an escape room EVER. The other thing I love is how this room feels like a love letter to escape rooms and enthusiasts. You don’t need to love horror, you don’t need to love a particular kind of puzzle, anyone who loves any kind of escape room can have their heart filled with this room. Please come enjoy it!

WOW!! I have never done anything like this before in my life. You can tell how much effort they put into building this. Our game master was also a joy to be around and talked with us for a bit. I highly recommend anyone to do this room. Fly from wherever you are right now.

Playing The Alchemist feels like stepping into a real-life version of The Room series by Fireproof Studios, blending clever puzzles and complex contraptions for a truly engaging experience. With high-quality production and a unique storyline, it’s a standout game that’s definitely recommended—and a must-play if you’re in Amsterdam!
The puzzles are cleverly designed—challenging enough to engage players without ever leaving them feeling stuck or frustrated, and leaving enough space for all players to work together. Solving them involves interacting with intricate machines and mechanisms that blend into the game’s setting, enhancing the immersion. The tactile experience is particularly satisfying, as there are objects to assemble and use, adding a hands-on element that elevates the gameplay.
The game boasts high-quality set pieces, with one breathtaking centerpiece that truly steals the show. However, the expansive space means that some areas between these highlights can feel a bit sparse, which slightly detracts from the otherwise immersive atmosphere.
The interactions with the Game Master, both before and during the game, were fantastic. Their playful humour added a personal touch that kept us smiling and set a lighthearted tone for the experience.
The story felt original, and with a clear and easy-to-follow mission it set the stage nicely. However, after the initial introduction, there were no twists or additional narrative layers revealed during the game, leaving the story feeling somewhat shallow. A deeper or evolving plot could have added more engagement in the narrative.

The Alchemist from Sherlocked showcases great attention to detail and top-notch quality, as expected from this company. The set design and overall experience were impressive, immersing us in the theme right from the start. Unfortunately, we encountered several mechanical issues during our playthrough—one involving the stairs and another puzzle that couldn’t be completed. While these didn’t ruin the experience entirely, they were disappointing. What stood out even more was the host’s lackluster response to these problems, offering only a casual “too bad” without further acknowledgment or compensation. A gesture, like a discount for a future visit, would have gone a long way in addressing the situation. Despite this, the room’s design and atmosphere make it worth playing, though a more proactive approach to customer care would improve the overall experience.
