This was a fantastically built/decorated room, and the variety of puzzles within the room was good, but I felt that we had done similar puzzles in other rooms here. The props were AMAZING. The Game Master was amazing. But we finished as a group of 2 in only half the alloted time, having only used 1 clue (which we figured out riiiight after we asked for it). I think it would be best as a first or second room at this location OR would be good if you haven't done a room here in a while.
These were some of the highest quality props I have encountered. Nothing felt cheap or old.
You don't need to know anything about the Knights of the Round Table, but if you do, you'll enjoy the incorporation of the lore.

Thanks so much for the thoughtful review! We’re glad the set design and puzzle variety stood out — Excalibur was built to feel like a full-scale quest, and it’s great to hear that came through. We totally get that for returning players, some puzzle mechanics may feel familiar even if they’re entirely unique to the game. We’re always refining our experiences to keep them engaging and layered, especially for enthusiasts who’ve played a lot of rooms. Really appreciate you coming out, and we’d love to have you back to see what’s new!

We played a similar room in California and we liked that one, too. This game has a good set, good puzzles and good ambiance. We enjoyed it. Unfortunately, we could easily hear the people in the lobby and that was distracting. So we’d like to see better soundproofing, but that’s really my only gripe.
Thanks so much for the kind words, Curt! We’re really glad you enjoyed the puzzles and ambiance. Totally fair note on the sound. Being in a historic building definitely has its limitations, and while we do our best to limit sound transfer between spaces, there are times when especially enthusiastic groups in the lobby can bleed through. We always try to manage the environment as best we can and continue looking for ways to minimize disruption wherever possible. Appreciate you playing and hope we’ll see you again for another adventure!

Amazing theming. Very immersive. We especially liked the unique way they incorporated the countdown clock into the theme. Unfortunately, we were feeling cocky and didn’t ask for a vital hint at one point and ended up running out of time. Boo on us. We had a great time regardless.
Thanks for the great review! We’re so glad you enjoyed the theming and the countdown mechanic — that’s one of our favorite elements in Excalibur too. Totally understandable about not asking for hints — we’ve all been there! Our Game Hosts are always happy to tailor the experience to each group’s play style, whether you're all-in on solving solo or prefer a bit of guidance. Either way, we hope you had a blast and would love to host you again for another round!

Great design, great theme, and overall great room! The room was challenging but not difficult and had some non-linear elements that made the gameplay fun for our party. Would definitely recommend!

If you are into medieval times, you will love this room. Clue IQ really goes above and beyond with their attention to detail when it comes to the atmosphere of their rooms. The puzzles were clever and stuck to the theme. Add it to your wishlist! 8.4/10

This was a game where the decor surpassed the puzzles for me. It was a beautiful room but I struggled with some of the puzzles and flow and the ones I didn’t struggle with felt a little repetitive .
Very immersive, beautiful set

Thanks so much for the thoughtful feedback! We’re really glad you enjoyed the set design — Excalibur was a labor of love from a world-building perspective. Totally understand the note about flow — over the past year, we’ve made several adjustments to the pacing and structure, especially in the early game, to help the experience feel smoother and more intuitive. Feedback like yours is a big part of what drives those changes, and we appreciate you taking the time to share it. Hope we’ll get the chance to host you again and show you what’s new!

Let me start by saying this was a great game! If Morty had more stars… it was a 4/5 for me. Great set. Good puzzles…my only negative was it felt like there were many of the same type of puzzles, so it was a bit repetitive. But nonetheless, I thought it was a fantastic game.

This is a cool game. The set design is spectacular. It wasn’t necessarily memorable compared to a few of the other games at Clue IQ, but it’s definitely a must-play in Frederick.

Thanks so much for the review, — and we’re really glad the set and structure stood out! Excalibur was a big world-building project for us, and we’re proud of the atmosphere it delivers. Since your visit, the game has received some updates to puzzle flow and lighting to help elevate the experience even further. We know not every room will be the most memorable for every player, especially with different styles in the mix — but we truly appreciate you giving it a go and hope we’ll see you back for another adventure soon!
