You wake up in a prison cell. Your head hurts. You have no memory of how you got there, or why. You don’t know how long you’ve been unconscious. You have so many questions, and there is only one thing that feels more important than getting your answers: getting out!

I have done MANY prison escape rooms & at some point, you start rooms with a little bit of bravado. Yeah, that went out the window soon after. I'll say this. NERD escapes do not make easy escape rooms. We needed hints, we needed nudges, but eventually we started feeling the vibe. The cell was so simple, one could be forgiven in thinking something must be off, but eventually it all started to flow. You don't necessarily need a larger crew, but you do need to bring your thinking caps! It 's hard to describe the flow because often times we would be stumped on a puzzle just as we started getting momentum. The story was decent: we were imprisoned but innocent, and kudos to revealing why we were held as the game played out. Over the course of two days, we played all of Nerd Escape's rooms. I don't know if I'd recommend this for beginners, but if you want a challenge and are in the area, do this room. Come for City of Darkness and Chernobyl. Time permitting, add this one and The Return.

This room had some very unique elements that we loved and felt so immersive because they were totally prison-esk escapes, the first room in general was the best. The second room though was lacking and kinda a filler. The third room was clever but didn’t feel super immersive. Overall, a fun gameplay with some exciting moments, enjoyable!

The room was decorated perfectly with some spots that definitely threw us off. It was by no means easy. But we didn’t have to ask for clues on every step. For people who do escape rooms a lot, this one is challenging but really fun. It was our first one and it’s the hardest room but we still got through it. You get unlimited hints. I think we waited to long to ask for help for the first one that stumped us. I would totally do this one.

I cannot describe how much I love these people. This room was incredible, just like the others. I absolutely love the immersion. You actually feel like you’re in prison. Cannot wait to experience more rooms with them.

Huge fan of Nerd but this room isn’t my favorite. The theme, decor and storyline is good but there isn’t as much solving and thinking as I like to do in a room. It’s also a pet peeve when the instructions are that everything in the room is intentional and a part of the clues but then you fixate on something that isn’t related. That ultimately caused us to just barely miss escaping.

You need to be able to crawl to be able to get through this room.
There are auditory, color, visual cues and crawling required. Not very accessible.
