For years Paw and Maw had been runnin’ neck and jiggly neck with each other but Maw reckons she might could have a new secret recipe so good it’ll put hair on your chest and Paw outta’ business for good -and you can bet Paw ain’t havin’ none of neither! She’s fixin’ to hold a hootenanny tonight to celebrate the launch of her new brew, so there ain’t much tickin’ and a tockin’ left on the old time wheel for Paw to stop ‘er before it’s too late. Even a blind toad that ain’t got but just three legs can see that’s where you come in. No one would ever suspect them fancy city folk is really Paw’s seventh cousins five times removed. It’s time to defend that family honor which’n no one quite understands and put Maw outta’ business fer good. Ya best be hurryin’ cause Maw will be back soon. Paw’s kin’ll give you the tools you’re gonna need to do the job. So what are y’all waitin’ for? Stop listenin’ to me and break into Maw’s shack and blow her ‘shine still to smithereens!

It's a very cool room with some quality puzzle ideas, but the GM was clearly trained to handle tourists and gave a LOT of voice instructions we felt were very uncessary. Good place to take family/friends who aren't already escape room fans, but not a must for enthusiests. Probably best closer to 4 than to 8.

We selected this one due to the unique theming and previous reviews. We thoroughly enjoyed the room. Our Game Master was super friendly and fun (I think we even had him laughing at some of our shenanigans.) theming was on point.

We did this game as a joke. The idea of a Moonshine-themed escape room was just too funny to pass up, so we did since we were in Gatlinburg area in the middle of our Escape Room/Theme Park trip for Dollywood and had some free time. This game also happened to be one of my favorites on the trip and possibly the biggest surprise of the entire thing. This game is so well done. It does a really good job tying into the area’s history with the camp of the tourist traps that now inhabit it. This game exudes pure chaos, not just in the rapid-fire gameplay (and hectic audio), but simply in the way the set was constructed. It’s so cluttered and just… stressful looking, in a really fun way. The general plot is ridiculous and is constantly being progressed by silly commentary from your gamemaster, who, while never a live character, is always in character and makes the game feel constantly alive. It’s rare for a game in a small chain (a public booking chain no-less) to use a game master so much like this. My only major issue was one audio element that was extremely hard to hear. This shouldn’t be a major issue in most cases, but this audio element was so long and so important that we ended up losing around 10 minutes to this. The gamemaster had to tell us what it said, and even she was kind of hard to hear in the room. It doesn't sound like this is the first time she’s needed to do this either, so this is something the company really needs to fix. This is a really great game that I recommend to both new and especially to experienced players. If you’re a major enthusiast and are near here, try this one out because it will really stand out as unique for you. If you love both the over the top Southern charm of PIgeon Forge/Gatlinburg and also love Escape Rooms, this is the perfect combination of both of these things. This is the ultimate Gatlinburg Escape Game. But wow that audio thing was annoying. (Also this game is a public booking game where even if you book in advance anyone could walk in from one of the dozens of tourist traps on the street right before it starts and join in your game. In fact, our gamemaster was not allowed to start the game (as much as she wanted to) until their boss was 100% sure no one was going to book the remaining slots last second. Because of how non-linear this is (though it does have a pretty small footprint), it wouldn’t be the worst to play with strangers, but public bookings are just stupid in general.)

So much funny game master commentary! It’s also ridiculous though not that prevalent other than the commentary.

Not because it’s about alcohol, it’s very family friendly. I just think the game might be hard for younger kids to understand there’s a lot going on (maybe they’ld thrive on that idk).

Was anything broken?

Yes

The audio thing wasn’t broken by definition i guess, but it’s still a major thing they need to fix.

Live actors

No

Never really live, kind of acting though.

Accessibility

This might be the closest an Escape Room has felt to be overstimulating. That’s what made the atmosphere so notable to me. This may be a lot for some people. I feel like there were required stairs both in the game and to get in the game, but I can’t confirm that from my memory.

Easy to find location

No

There’s a lot of signs for it though. You have to go around to find where you check in for it. It’s in the same building as bumper cars. This is also only where you check in for this game.

Parking

You have to pay at the nearby big lot.

Rating: 4/5 - Unique theme with a lot of goofiness Pros: ➕Great looking set with lots of hilarious details ➕Puzzles were mostly enjoyable and advance the storyline. Not too difficult, nothing illogical. ➕Numerous tactile/physical interactions ➕Goofy, unique storyline ➕Multiple rooms to explore ➕Doesn't take itself seriously, lots of funny moments ➕Mix of padlocks and tech ➕Ending sequence/contraption is fun ➕GM was friendly and helpful Room for improvement: ➖A bit too reliant on searching for items and finding random keys ➖It's showing some wear and tear, some finicky tech ➖Some unnecessarily loud and obnoxious sound effects ➖Public bookings by default, private costs extra I'd recommend teams of 2-4 enthusiasts, we finished with almost 10 min left as a team of 2 with some nudges and hints. My ranking of the games I played here starting with my favorite: 1. Masters of Magic (play at Pigeon Forge location since it is newer and bigger) 2. Boogeyman 3. Haunting of Hyde House 4. Big Maw Bertha's Fussin' & A' Feudin' Moonshine Hill Hootenanny

I completed this room solo, and it had plenty of puzzles along with red herrings that didn’t throw me off. I enjoyed the interactive chaos it offered, though it could use some polishing for a smoother experience.

This was such a fun room! It was a perfect addition to our time in Gatlinburg! We can’t wait to see what else this company comes up with! All of the puzzles were uniquely paired with the theme of the room. Very immersive and very cute! One of my favorites for sure!
