In part one of the Fogmore saga you open your eyes to find yourself in a dark room. Lightning flashes, illuminating the stained glass windows, and the crackling fire casts dancing shadows over the strange and mysterious artifacts scattered around the manor drawing room. A flickering candle and a scribbled note from your missing business partner are all you can see. So begins your experience in Fogmore Manor. Are there really spirits inhabiting the strange artifacts here? More importantly, if there are, are they trying to help you escape or trap you forever? You have 60 minutes to follow the trail left by your vanished business partner. Will you find him, or will the same fate befall you when the clock strikes midnight?

This room was amazing from start to finish - by far my favorite escape games in San Diego so far. Detailed puzzles, immersion focused, and so many surprises! We did a group of 4 with experienced players and spent a good chunk of the time saying how cool everything was. Lots of mechanics we haven't seen elsewhere and overall 10/10 game.

Gameplay

This is a very linear room, which they tell you. Follow the instructions! It flowed perfectly and had many surprises.

Atmosphere

You can tell how much thought and effort is put into this room. Impressed from start to finish.

Customer service

We did two games in a row with an hour break between and the GM was kind enough to run our second game early. We had a great time chatting with him!

Easily one of the best rooms in San Diego. So fun, so many puzzles, interesting story and great ending. I think this room would be quite hard if your whole team is new to escape rooms, so I would recommend bringing at least 2 people with experience. 4 of us made it out in 53 minutes, and we have done about 50 rooms each.

This room should be 75 minutes for 2 players. There is a lottttt for 2 people. I played with my friend who has played over 350 rooms and we both agreed that it should be 75 minutes if 2 people are playing. Some very tough puzzles that don’t tell you to reference the tablet either.

I thought this room was super fun. Honestly loved it. There are A LOT of puzzles. My group was very experienced (3 people with 25+ rooms of experience) and we barely finished in time, even though we never really got stuck on anything. I think the objects you interact with are neat and funny. One weakness is there's a lot of reading but I guess I enjoy following instructions. There's a lot of riddles, but I thought they were all pretty enjoyable. Tech is pretty cool, everything worked as expected. Our game master was nice and started a little later to accommodate some of our team who came a little late. Would highly recommend overall!

60 escape rooms

This was a very fun room! This was my 47th room (42W - 5L) so I still consider myself a novice, especially since I ride the coattails of my teammate, Baby Squirrel. Today I played with four other players with similar statistics ranging in ages from 10 to 59 - it was nice having younger brains leading the way. As prior players have mentioned, the room is linear but I didn't feel like anyone was standing around with nothing to do. If fact, a couple of puzzles require more than a couple of hands. Despite moving at a pretty fast pace, we barely finished in time (50 seconds remaining). We received a couple of nudges, primarily along the lines of , "read it again..." The decor was lovely and everything was in working condition. The puzzles were a mixture of high tech and mechanical.

Gameplay

The story was fun and the room was very immersive.

Atmosphere

The decorations and puzzles were impressive and immersive. Everything was in great condition and worked without a glitch.

Customer service

Our GM was very nice and he respected our request to offer hints / nudges only when requested. His typical advice was for us to read or listen to the instructions again - lol.

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

The story was fun and the puzzles were fun to solve. I enjoyed going back into the room after we escaped so that my teammates could show me what they did to solve their puzzles while I was working on another one.

Story

The pre-story was very involved. I was a little worried before we entered the room that I would need to remember all of the details, but it was fine. The story was just that, a back story.

Difficulty

Medium

This was my 47th escape room (42W-5L) which I played with four teammates with similar statistics. Our group agrees that this room was on the hard side of medium based on our experience. The sheer number of puzzles makes this a bit difficult. We finished with 16:38 remaining.

Game tech

High tech

The room was a nice mix of mechanical and tech-y, but slightly more tech.

Ideal number of players

5

We played as a group of five which was a nice number for us. No one was ever standing around with nothing to do.

Scary

Not scary

We don't do scary. The room was dim though.

Minimum age

8

My suggestion is 8 years old only based on a typical 8 year old attention span. But if you have younger enthusiasts, you should certainly include them.

Was anything broken?

No

Everything was in good condition and worked without a glitch.

Live actors

No

We don't do rooms with live actors.

Physically active

Somewhat

There was the usual scurrying around, kneeling, and crawling.

Accessibility

I think this room would be difficult for people with impairments. Puzzles and instructions required hearing, sight and physical abilities.

Easy to find location

Yes

The Disappearance at Fogmore Manor: Trapped in an apparently haunted room, our group determined to locate a missing business partner before the spirits of the manor stopped us dead in our tracks. Pros: This room was not only meticulously decorated, but the attention to detail in the props and the puzzles added to the overarching storyline. We loved many of the high-tech, mechanical puzzles. These were top-notch and demonstrate excellence in set and puzzle design. We played alongside a friend and veteran escape room player. We all agreed that we had never seen anything like these puzzles before. The puzzles were complicated but perfectly logical and solvable. We barely escaped but progressed at a good pace through each challenge. The game master was on hand to provide assistance with some mechanical difficulties. Cons: None. We really enjoyed our experience at Fogmore Manor and look forward to seeing more rooms like this one. Bravo!

The story was good but the room was about average. Some puzzles didn’t flow well but there were also some puzzles I’d never seen before.

I really enjoyed this room. There were some creative components I’ve never seen before and I’ve done over 50 rooms. The backstory was well established. Highly recommended!
