As archaeologists deep in the Egyptian desert, an entrance to an unopened burial chamber has been discovered. It’s a once-in-a-century chance to make a name in the history books, but unfortunately, the tomb is cursed, so once you step inside, it becomes a race against time to escape. Curse of the Mummy is Countdown's first room, previously located in Nørrebro, but with the new location in Lyngby, there’s a bit more space and opportunity to enhance the room. Darkness is used as an element here, which makes sense for a burial chamber, but this has been considered, so all archaeologists are equipped with a flashlight and can adjust the brightness themselves. We find this a nice touch, as it can be frustrating not to participate in solving puzzles due to lack of light. The room itself is decorated from floor to ceiling to create the illusion of a burial chamber, which is a challenging task given the number of details to consider. We think this has been achieved quite well, though there’s always room for refining and adding more details to make the experience more immersive. The entire room is used for puzzle-solving, encouraging participants to explore all sides in detail, and the space handles this well. The puzzles in the room are well-designed, allowing multiple people to work at the same time without getting in each other's way. The difficulty level is on the easier side, but we don’t mind, as the puzzles are still fun to work on.
