Thanks so much for taking the time to leave such a detailed review! We truly appreciate the thought you put into it, even when the experience wasn’t a fit for your group. You’re absolutely right that Baker Street Mystery feels very different from Curse of the Hidden Temple and Lucky Dice Diner, as those are our newer games. Baker Street Mystery was built in 2016 and is one of our oldest experiences, while Curse of the Hidden Temple, Lucky Dice Diner, and The Blind Tiger Speakeasy represent nearly a decade of growth in our design style, technology, and storytelling. Because of that difference, Baker Street Mystery (along with Bank Heist) is intentionally priced at our lowest tier. During non-peak hours, they are $35 per person for groups of 4+, compared to $45 per person for groups of 4+ for our newest, more tech-forward games. It’s also frequently discounted further for same day replays. We would appreciate if you had any feedback on how this pricing structure could be clearer during the booking process. We’re always looking to improve so expectations are set more clearly before players arrive. Regarding the bookshelf and lighting notes, those are intentional pieces of player guidance we’ve used since the game opened. The bookshelf explanation is meant to prevent groups from spending time force searching or assuming there’s a hidden passage where one doesn’t exist. The lighting reminder exists because, unlike our newer games where lighting is automated, Baker Street Mystery allows players to control their environment, especially once blacklights are introduced. Many escape rooms explicitly forbid touching light switches, so we want players to know they’re fair game here. As for puzzle style, Baker Street leans more heavily into traditional escape room mechanics, physical locks, paper clues, decoding, cryptograms, and deduction, which we recognize isn’t everyone’s preferred play style, especially after coming straight from a lock free experience like Curse of the Hidden Temple. Across our lineup, we try to offer a range of puzzle types and eras so that different kinds of players can find games they love, even if not every room clicks for every group. We’re genuinely glad to hear your Expedition Guide made a positive impression, and we’re sorry this particular experience didn’t land for your family. Feedback like this helps us think critically about how we communicate game differences, pricing tiers, and expectations, especially for seasoned players tackling multiple rooms in one day. If you have any direct feedback or would like to discuss anything in more detail, please feel free to email us at [email protected]. Thank you again for giving our games a try and for supporting a small, independent escape room business. We truly appreciate it, and we hope another one of our experiences might be a better fit for you in the future. Marisa & Skylar Owners
