26 escape rooms
I wanted to like this room so badly. I really wanted to be able to give it a hot. But I just couldn’t. Here’s my breakdown: Atmosphere, props, novelty: 10/10 This is why I wanted to give the overall experience a hot rating. As soon as we entered, the staff were super friendly and IN CHARACTER! The decor was fantastic: eclectic, mysterious, sophisticated. I was fully immersed. I won’t give away the surprise, but this escape room location is the first one I’ve visited that (1) actually made the opening introduction for the room’s plot interesting and part of the experience and (2) used its staff in such a creative and engaging way. Inside the room as well the set was fun, thematic, novel, and interactive. Gameplay: 3/10 I completed the room with my husband—we do almost all our escape rooms with just the two of us. We also have very different ways of thinking. But both of us found the puzzles very illogical. A lot of the challenge of the room is finding things that don’t really look like they go together and putting them together. And just finding things, in general. I felt like a number of the puzzles were over complicated just for the sake of being difficult. Overall, I did not enjoy the gameplay, but objectively it wasn’t all bad: there was a lot to do, there were many different kinds of puzzles, the puzzles were interactive, and the room was non-linear. I enjoyed the atmosphere and immersion and appreciated the staff so much. I think those positive traits are harder to come by, so I really hope that the location rethinks the flow and logic of their puzzles in future rooms so that it can truly be the full package!
