Monster Mashers

Insane escape room that left us speechless more than once. Had to sit down a few times and just take it all in.

This is best intro to a game I've ever experienced. And it's not even close. The opening doesn't ramp up as much as burst open like a shaken soda. The first 15 minutes are as close to pure uncut Saturday morning cartoon dopamine as you're ever likely to experience. And even after that, the game is just pure fun. It's a game built of laughter and specters, lunacy and freewheeling camp. This is a game that grabs you by the shirt collar and bolts laughing into the night. Does the final act go as wild as it could have? No. There are moments when it could have doubled down on its own cartoon frenzy. But with a game this iconic, it's enough that it ends entertainingly. Playing Monster Mashers is like getting a PhD in fun.

The opening sequence (~15-30 min) of the game is phenomenal, definitely one of my favorites ever. The set is fantastic and atmospheric, and the music is both a joy to listen to and sets the mood very well. I'm a sucker for the game's theme, and the actors were very fun to improv with. If I had to nitpick, the end of the game didn't live up to the strong opening, and it wasn't clear to us how we were supposed to react to certain things happening (i.e. is this for atmosphere or are the GMs trying to tell us not to do X?). Also, a few puzzles throughout the game felt like they could be replaced with something more engaging. Play night mode if you can; as I understand the differences, the atmosphere should be much more thematic.

Exciting, goofy, spooky fun! We were recommended this room and added it to our escape room trip itinerary last minute and so glad we decided to book an late-night 11PM experience knowing nothing about it. lol. This was such an entertaining experience, we were scared, laughing our pants off, (and falling over backwards?!) puzzling our way through two wild hours in the middle of the night. We don't usually do scary rooms but this one was so fun and worth the thrill - won't share any spoilers, better to just go do it! We are so glad we add it last minute. Despite being a somewhat scary escape experience, the puzzles were actually really good as well.

You can’t really call this an escape “room” but rather a full escape experience. I had so many questions going into it, and the surprises were so refreshing. You are immediately pulled into the story, and the design is outstanding. There is a lot of tension throughout, but I feel they perfectly mix in humour so that you are also put at ease (I’m a scaredy cat when it comes to proper horror rooms). The actors really add to the experience, rather than just being jump scare gimmicks, and I really enjoyed that. And debriefing with the team at the end shows you how much passion they have for this. This is a must do if you are in the Antwerp area!

This is the best game I have ever done - it dethroned The Dome which I held in great regard. Impeccable room.

This was a stand out game from start to finish. We played night mode and would absolutely recommend this mode even if you are a little bit on the scaredy side as otherwise I think you'd miss out on some very memorable moments!
