We played Edison mode after completing Tesla mode. Firstly, it's amazing how the same gamespace can give you two completely different experiences! There was no overlap of puzzles - with the puzzles themselves being relevant to the scientists. If you're intending to do both - which you should, might be better to start with Tesla mode first as Edison mode felt even more challenging. Tesla mode will get you in the groove quicker for these 2 games. It definitely helped us. The non-linear gameplay and unique blend of puzzles make it quite challenging. It's especially a head-scratcher to get cracking on even the first couple of puzzles (whichever ones you choose). I will say I wasn't the biggest fan of one of the puzzles because it felt overly complicated in its exposition. I think there is an opportunity to simplify the execution without compromising the logical thinking required to win the challenge. But overall, we were impressed by the challenge of the room. The set pieces were amazing! Keen observation is required. Our GM was very attentive and helpful. An experienced group of 4 would be ideal to split up in pairs for the non-linear puzzles.
Gameplay
Non-linear gameplay with a nice flow and "tracking" system.
Atmosphere
Wonderful set design, moody lighting and nice electro-swing soundtrack!
Customer service
The GM's in Escape Hour Austin have been consistently good! They are attentive, follow your game, and provide help as or when needed.
Story
While there isn't a "story" progression, the elements are very relevant.
