Just when I thought Escaparium couldn’t surprise me any more they surpassed my expectations. A clear objective sends you into the game and then you are thrust into the most impressive set I’ve ever stepped into. Lomo was the star of the show, so funny and a great interaction throughout the game. I will say I didn’t enjoy how much Lomo is used to propel you through the game. I wished we’d had some more independent play. Otherwise such an impressive experience unlike anything else I’ve done and tackles a SCIFI theme effortlessly. I don’t think I have ever played such an electric finale to a game. Would 100% recommend.

Gameplay

It was like being inside of a video game. So many brilliant moments and amazing transitions. I did feel like the participation of the host (inside Lomo) was slightly too “hand holdy” for my liking. I would have loved to have a bit more independent game play but it was still SO fun!

Atmosphere

Unreal. From the moment you enter the game to every other space that you inhabit in the game no expense has been spared. It felt like you had been dropped into video game or movie set. So deeply impressive.

Customer service

Excellent hosting as always.

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

I have never played a game like this before. It was so interactive and still managed to have great theatrical moments. I don’t think I have ever experienced such an exciting end of a game!

Story

The game is full of diegetic puzzles and narrative furthering activities. I felt like ever moment of the game was propelling the story forward.

Difficulty

Medium

So much to get through with some challenging puzzles but I do feel that the hint system slightly guides you through a bit too much.

Technically speaking, one of the coolest rooms I’ve ever done. The set and prop pieces are amazing. The mechanics of the game are also super. It had robots and technology that I’ve never seen executed this well in an escape room before. It definitely fit the sci fi theme very well. The puzzles are also really well themed. My only issue was the cursing. This room definitely could have been family friendly if they took out the music. There was no cursing at all by any actors or set pieces except for the music and when you hear it, it just feels really out of place and disconnected from the game. If the actors or robots were cursing too and it was more throughout the game it’d make a lot more sense and fit better to me. But on its own it just feels extremely out of place.

We were quite excited for this game based on the rave reviews and having completed so many of the other Escaparium games, but we were disappointed with Reboot. The game has a beautiful set and a ton of potential and some great components. There was an imbalanced ratio of long stretches of listening to the the ‘immersive theatre’ and musical components before continuing to actual game play. While some puzzles were nice, many were contrived and required step by step instructions from the GM taking away the magic and immersion of ERs. Some puzzles were not responsive or were broken breaking the immersion. Even for an ER, and despite so much of our game time being spent on listening to the storyline, the story and resolution didn’t quite hit the mark for us. There were cool parts to the game but we felt the game play didn’t meet its full potential for how incredible the set and some special effects were.

The scale of this room and the technology involved were incredible. Sometimes I feel the technology used in a room does not enhance the experience, but this was a pleasant exception. The hint system was also very cool. The story here guided the puzzles, and as you solved them you advanced the story. The adventure vibe of the room was present throughout. Very cool experience.

Another game which is heavily driven by an intriguing narrative, and with much less down time than in Wardrobe for Sale. The game injects humour alongside intrigue and action. Set design is beautiful and epic with so much space to explore. Definitely has a memorable climax that leaves open the possibility of further progression in the future.

Gameplay

Puzzles are linear as our robot friend guides us through the gameplay, but without actually having to tell us what to do or how to do it

A great experience revamped and improved upon from a previous incarnation. The game is overall and experience with some puzzles of moderate complexity combined with a good deal of interaction with characters and the GM. The technology implemented is top notch and worked extremely well. The decor is excellent and it is clear a lot of passion went in to the development of this game. It was highly entertaining. Not the most challenging from a puzzle perspective rather it is meant to be experienced with challenges interspersed throughout.

Gameplay

There is a very good help system within the game that allows the GM to help you though without feeling pushed or rushed so that you finish and get to see the experience from beginning to end. No risk of “not finishing “
