This is such a fun game with incredible large-scale sets, living up to the polish and gameplay that Escaparium Laval has become known for. Throughout the game, you are accompanied by a special friend and they were a true highlight of the game. The puzzles have a good level of difficulty and really help drive the story forward. Because the game is long I do wish that they had optional seating in and some of the later portions of the game because fatigue started to set in. I was disappointed to see that generative AI was used in the creation of the band music, as well as the TV commercial in the game. I feel it detracted from the quality of the experience.

Mind blowing production. However, not my preferred play style. It felt very much like a series of small vignettes in which you are ushered between by characters, not an open escape room where you solve and explore at your own pace. That's not necessarily bad, just not the type of game I prefer. The biggest negative: there is a character giving crucial instructions and story through much of the experience. It was extremely difficult for our group to understand this character most of the time. Not because of the actor, but because of the speaker/filter they were speaking through. It affected the voice too much and really made the experience frustrating at times. That said, the production design, imagination, and tech in this room are truly world class.

Gameplay

As incredible as the production of this room, our felt that the puzzles and overall flow just.... weren't that fun (sadly)

I'm 50/50 on live actors. While the actors themselves were clearly very talented, the performances were a little over the top and kind of took away from the experience.

As with all escape rooms at this place it’s so good. Acting, story, set (wow), robots, it’s all so peak. Puzzles were all high tech and fun and interesting, set and atmosphere was fantastic. Staff was wonderful and their GMing/ acting is just so fantastic. Also Lumo ❤️

The widespread use of generative AI compels me to give this a negative rating. The video was created by AI, even though filming in the hallways wouldn’t have cost much, especially given Escaparium’s budget. The music was generated by AI—which is pretty obvious when no one is credited in the playlist. It’s pretty ironic, given the pseudo-environmental message along the lines of: “Humans are destroying the planet.” In short, incredible sets, but mediocre puzzles—they’re pretty easy and not very satisfying to solve. The game master was really cool and friendly, but please don’t swear in the lobby while you’re doing repairs 😂 TLDR: Stop using generative AI

Ctrl Alt Reboot has it all: innovative puzzles, an immersive set, and a terrific storyline. The only downside is if you are doing the room with people who are very experienced, you only need three people to do it. I found myself feeling completely useless in my group of 4, since the setup simply didn’t require an additional person. However, I can step out of my experience and still acknowledge this room is OUTSTANDING. The intro was extremely overwhelming because people were talking so fast my anxiety went through the roof. However, once the humans left, we were left with impressive puzzles and room design. I felt my brain working in this room, but they didn’t compromise on the immersiveness.

Gameplay

Gameplay had innovative puzzles that I haven't seen before. The story flowed well and never bottlenecked.

I gave this a "Love" because it would be insane not to give a room like this a big ol' heart, but this was our least favorite of the 6 rooms we did at Escaparium Laval (Magnifico, Voodoo Queen, Cathedral, Final Stop, and Golden Jubilee being the others). There weren't very many puzzles in this room compared to the other rooms. There is a character that is so unique and awesome and we really enjoyed it. But that same character basically told us how to do every puzzle as soon as we got to it. We are super fast at escape rooms. It wasn't like we were struggling and taking too long. The hints were given almost as soon as we got to the puzzle. So that was really annoying. For us, too few puzzles and then not being given a chance to even try without hints are a big no no. The set is insane as with many of the rooms here. I would have been just as happy skipping this room except for the fact that I liked the character.

Gameplay

Not enough puzzles and they help us through the puzzles before we even had a chance to work on them

Atmosphere

The atmosphere was insane. And there were a couple moments when it really felt real.

Scary

For teens and adults, not scary. Maybe a little intense, esp for littler kids.

Delightful from start to finish. If you played Rain Corp the set and props will feel familiar (and maybe lose some of the “awe”) but the nostalgia will more than make up for it. I think they improved on RainCorp in every way (more ambitious interactions, clearer story beats, puzzles that use the entirety of the space) so I was really impressed. As with Escaparium’s newer rooms, there is a narrative that you have to follow and actor interactions you must engage with. I found them all interesting and constantly made me smile. I think even if you are a puzzle-forward enthusiast this will still be found really enjoyable as there was more than enough meat on the bones to appease the puzzle folks and the people that just want to vibe with their favourite robot.
