Borderlands: Tannis’s Lab was honestly one of the best rooms I’ve played so far at this location. The atmosphere, theme, puzzles, and clues all matched the story really well, especially if you’re already familiar with the Borderlands games. It definitely made the room more fun seeing how everything connected to that world. There were some funny moments and some really cool parts that I enjoyed a lot, but I won’t spoil anything because it’s something you have to experience for yourself. The gameplay also felt different in a good way, which helped the room stand out. The puzzles weren’t too hard, but you do have to pay close attention to certain things or you might miss something important. Overall, this was a very fun room and easily a must-play if you’re in the area.

I rate this escape experience a 2/5 (ck out my bio for rating system). After doing different rooms in three Red Door locations, I would say this is the second worse experience of the three (Confinement gets the prize on the worst for me). The set/theme was dry, dark and unimpressive so I would only give that category a half a point. The puzzles were meh. They give you a tablet but it was very limited on the info it provided and didn't serve as much of a guide as to what you needed to do in the room. There were also side missions that you could or could not do and that didn't help you with the main mission but you don't know what those are exactly so you could be wasting time working on things you don't need to do. We ended up finishing all but 1 of the side missions unbeknownst to us. Luckily we also finished the main mission. This just made it too confusing. The puzzles weren't novel to us nor were they particularly high tech. I'd give this category 1 point. Boringlands, er, I mean Borderlands, just didn't do it for me. A half a point for my enjoyment. I guess it's based on a video game so maybe if I was familiar with the game, I would've possibly enjoyed it more.

Unfortunately, this is one of the worst rooms we’ve ever done. The puzzles here are weak and overly labor intensive. Many of them we’d seen before and done better. Other puzzles are just illogical. You also waste a lot of time with some components that look like puzzles but actually aren’t. Names for components are confusing. Visual cues are mishandled. The only positive thing about this room is some of its tech compared to their other rooms, but a lot of it is completely wasted. After the game, the game master was telling us how this is a difficult room, and they had a group of 4 expert play testers struggle with it. Should have taken that as a signal to make some fundamental adjustments.

All time recorded the room! This is probably the best room here at Red Door. Super high tech, pretty easy puzzles, single room with great use of space. There’s main quests and side quests. The side quests were fun and they give you and iPad to help guide along the tasks. Had a great time!

Very cool room and definitely a step up from their older rooms! Love to see the progress. Wish I could give a between answer between heart and thumbs up. 4/5
