“You’re hidden under a table and see in the reflection of the window the stature nearby. Your heart beats in you throat and your breathing seems deafening. Slowly you hear footsteps of the stature coming towards you…” The groundbreaking 2018 original is back in a new location! I Can Hear You is an intense and intimate real-life horror game that was awarded one of the best experiences worldwide. Your investigation team is given a case by private detective organisation ‘Red Eye’ to track down missing Red Eye agent Jonathan. As an experienced detective, he traced former surgeon Sergey F. Staalmaat who is said to have taken up residence in the vacant Maas and Kempen hospital, where he may be carrying out lurid practices. This led to Sergey fleeing the hospital. For a long time, we heard nothing. Until we learned from Jonathan that he picked up Sergey’s trail not much further downtown in a former doctor’s office of his. That’s where the signal stops. It’s up to you to break into that doctor’s office unseen, stay out of the surgeon’s hands, figure out what’s going on and find & resque Jonathan! Remember: doubt halts progression. Progression is achieved by making decisions, but all decisions have consequences…. Are you brave enough?

We completed the experience with a small group of three players. As it was our first horror expercience, we didn't really know what to exspect, but it was really awesome. The thematic instructions we received up front were clear, but left a lot to the imagination. At the location, we were well received and the game started at the correct time. After receiving instructions, we went at it. The game proceeded very well: little tension at first, but that changed! The constant push forward was aided by the actor, we had to 'run for our lives'. Some nice scenes were involved and the story was thrilling. After the game we had ample time to comment and review our progress. The gamemakers really took their time: their passion about horrorgames is evident!

Gameplay

As a first time horror game player, it was absolutely thrilling. The story was captivating, the pace was pushing. We managed to make good time in escaping, losing only a bit of time because of the thrill of the game: lovely!

Atmosphere

The location was well decorated and suited the setting. The music and light effects really contributed to the atmosphere.

Customer service

We've met some really passionate people who took their time to explain the logic behind the game (after the game off course).

Horror isn't my favorite genre, but I think I Can Hear You did a great job at setting up and delivering on tension; I think it's the best example of its particular genre that I've played so far. The core game mechanic felt solid, and I liked the way the story unfolded. As you might expect from a horror game, this isn't very puzzle heavy.

"I Can Hear You" has finally been rebuilt and is back in 2025. Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to play the old version and was all the happier about this new release. The game was a lot of fun. I, as someone fairly experienced in horror escape rooms, played it with a friend who had no previous horror game experience, and we both loved it! All the acting moments were perfectly paced and had professional timing. The story made perfect sense, and the setting was very authentic. We lost all sense of space and time and were completely immersed in the game. These are clear signs that Entered has done everything right with this experience. If you're looking for challenging puzzles, you won't find much in this game. But that's not Entered's brand. They create a horror experience and are simply very, very good at it. Comparable games would be "Don't Take A Breath" from Athens and the sadly closed "Stay In The Dark." It's important to emphasize that the exciting core mechanics of those games were first used in the old version of the room in Entered. If you've played those rooms, you'll know what I mean. Thank you also for the pleasant and interesting debriefing, for which everyone involved patiently and attentively took the time despite the late hour!
