Le Château du Supplice Éternel [The Castle of Eternal Suffering]

An absolutely incredible room and the undoubted crown jewel of SQP. From the size and exquisite decor of the set to the immersive lighting and sound effects, media and animatronics, and wide range of challenging puzzles, everything about this room was world class. Backed by a strong story and featuring multiple wow moments — including a fun physical component and one of the best and most unexpected “jump scares” ever — this was a true pleasure from start to finish. The presence and design of the live actor was the cherry on top. My only regret is that we finished the room way too fast (leaving 33 minutes on the table) and should have taken more time to appreciate the experience. Unquestionably worth the drive from Montreal, or in our case, the flight from Australia.

This game is totally crazy! The puzzles are super interesting, and the story is well-developed.

New #1! We’ve done 85+ escape rooms at this point including some great ones like Ctrl Alt Reboot at Escaparium Laval and this is by far the best room we’ve ever done. Love love love love. Absolutely worth the drive if you’re in Montreal for escape rooms. We came to Montreal to do escape rooms, only able to fit 9 in during this trip. This was the only game we played at this location. After this room, I wish we would have done another room here to see what it is like. This is definitely a must play. I almost wasn't going to book it since it is in the opposite direction from Escaparium and Immersia, but it is 100% worth it. And I'm really glad we did. I literally felt like I was trapped in an evil castle. I lost all sense of time and space. The puzzles were awesome. And what makes this better than Ctrl Alt Reboot. That is more of a live theater experience with a couple puzzles. This has actual puzzles and they were great!! It also had THE coolest escape room thing that we’ve ever experienced. I don’t want to spoil it. But WOW! Unexpected and so fun!! I wish I would have booked more rooms at this location. We’ll need to come back. HIGHLY recommend.

In a trip of great escape rooms in Quebec, this is the one that stood out as the most well-rounded blend of immersiveness, game design and story (poignancy/emotional resonance plus humour!) It’s an amazing game, only rivalled by Wardrobe for Sale in my experience for this balance. I cannot commend the owner enough for prioritizing providing the full experience for everyone. The story deserves being experienced in full, and knowing that we would be nudged along if needed allowed our team to really enjoy the large scale of the game (in contrast to some rooms in Quebec that still boasted of their low escape rates.) As two people in our fifties, we were a bit concerned ahead of time about how scary the game would be, and how physically active. The owner encouraged us to just do it, and I’m glad he did. It has a few moments that are a bit scary, but the tension is always released with humour or empathy. The physical part is more doable IMO than many family-themed rooms in Quebec that take excessive crawling or climbing. Overall, this is a superb, not to miss game for people between 16 and 60-ish, well worth traveling for.

The Chateau of Eternal Suffering is a two-hour immersive experience that gets the balance right between puzzle, story, and physicality. There's a live actor involved, and the production quality (sound design, lighting, set work) is genuinely impressive. The puzzles are well-clued and each one feels distinct. No filler, no repeated mechanics. The pacing is deliberate. This isn't two hours of nonstop puzzle density, and it's better for it. The story drives you forward, the gamemaster keeps things moving, and the direction is tight enough that you always know why you're doing what you're doing. There's an early set piece that cleverly solves a common escape room problem: when a really cool moment would normally only be experienced by one player. Without spoiling it, all players get the full effect. There are some physical elements, but nothing that should scare off older or less athletic players. I'm not in peak shape and had no issues. There are also a few mild horror scares, and I say that as someone who's pretty inexperienced with horror rooms and kind of a chicken. Nothing overwhelming, just enough to keep you on edge. If you're looking for a pure puzzle grind, this isn't it. If you want a well-paced, story-driven experience where puzzles, atmosphere, and physicality all work together: this is one of the best I've played.

The Castle of Eternal Suffering was a fantastic room. Very well executed storyline, very! Fun effects that had my whole group laughing and clapping, and physical challenges in addition to mental puzzles. We had a rough start with some seriously tough puzzles, but it picked up after that. One early game effect was fantastic. It was incredibly well executed, unexpected and completely a surprise. I have yet to encounter anything like it in 460 rooms before or since. The story made sense and puzzles were satisfying to solve, though we encountered one slight input issue with one. The second half of the experience was quite physical, much more so than other rooms. We had a blast climbing, crawling and balancing our way through. It was well done and a nice break from the mental workout. Eternal Suffering was a highlight of our trip and absolutely worth the trek over from Laval. Put this on your trip itinerary, I promise you won’t regret it. 😋

Really terrific room with no locks. This room also featured my absolute favorite moment from any escape room, and to say anything about it would spoil it. The ambitious sets make good use of lighting effects and video screens. The puzzles are fair and tactile. There's a physical portion that I wish had a puzzle layer on top of it, but was nevertheless a fun and memorable change of pace. The hour we drove to get here from Montreal was absolutely worth it. Heartily recommended.

Simply spectacular. Amazing set, story, acting, the whole nine yards. There are some fun surprises along the way and tests your skills; there is something for everyone. We finished very early (40 min early!), so take your time and enjoy the game. This experience has rightfully earned its high praise, and I cannot recommend it enough!

My first words after completing this room were "I have no words to describe this" and for the most part I still don't have words for it besides just WOW. This is incredible, it is amazing, it is unique, it is mind blowing.

This was a room worthy of being on the Terpeca list. The set design was great. Puzzles were fun and interactive along with a few surprises I've not experienced before. 9/10
