Step into a reality that fights back. Glitches flicker in the corners of your vision, shadows shift when no one is there, and the surveillance watching you is far more alive than it should be. Objects appear where nothing existed seconds before, alarms roar without warning, and something in the system seems to… notice you.

This room was great. Multi-layered puzzles, lots of thinking outside the box, and fun surprises along the way. It was scarier than anticipated, but I felt like that added to my enjoyment. Knowing The Matrix movies certainly adds to the room, but it felt like a good balance of a world existing inside of that concept.

There was a slight moment of this, but I think we just clicked something too many things. The GM radioed right away and we recovered quickly - didn't interrupt the flow.

One of the best rooms we've done! There were some tricky bits so it may be challenging if you're new to ERs but the set up was really good and the build really makes the room seem bigger than it is. I almost glitched towards the end too when I thought we were done but turns out there was one more puzzle that needed to be done lol but it all worked out in the end.

Twisted Matrix had a lot of potential. Started off strong, and some special effects and unique puzzles were quite fun. In the later half though, one room entirely wasn’t working, so they bypassed it for us. In addition, a later reset fail had us searching for longer than we should have, leaving us feeling frustrated. I’m sure the game is better when everything goes to plan, but I feel my experience fell a bit short.

I sadly rate this escape experience a 3/5 (ck out my bio for rating system). This room deserves so much more if only it wasn't truly stuck in the glitchy Matrix. Cuz that's exactly what it did with us in it - glitched! I give the theme/set 1.5 pts. It truly was an immersive experience from the beginning to the end. I love the movie so I was excited to see some familiar elements (prepare to choose red or blue... πŸ’Š). There were surprises at every turn with some loud jump scares (just to warn those who don't prefer that - my hubby! πŸ˜†). The puzzles are where things went awry. One screen didn't show up so we had earned a prop that, seemingly, had no use. Then a whole section just didn't get triggered. The GM had to reset the room and bring us back to where we were but this caused us to completely miss one puzzle. In addition, the voices of those that 'helped' in the room were difficult to understand alot of the time. This all really took away from the experience so puzzles earned only a half a point from me. I rate my enjoyment 1 pt. I so wanted to love this room. Hopefully the owner will give it the TLC it needs to be the best version of itself!

Were multiple mechanics not working? Yes. Did I feel like they weren’t watching me or couldn’t see what I was doing half the time? Also, yes. Did this stop me from having a great time? No! Lots of rooms. Lots of fun. Haven’t seen this theme yet and I enjoyed it all. Gen 1 and Gen 2. I solo’d it, so 2 would be fine! πŸ’Š

I love a game that takes a huge swing, and the result here is a big thumbs up. Scenery snobs, puzzle pros, and red (even blue) pill takers will all be rewarded with an experience full of memorable moments, unique surprises, and incredible use of space. The puzzles were fun to solve and fit nicely in their respective environments. A couple of AI generated videos did feel like occasional visual outliers in an otherwise beautifully designed environment. Would recommend playing!

Gameplay

A wide variety of puzzle types, most falling on the easier side of difficulty, and a lot of the puzzles had the entire team involved.

Atmosphere

Dramatic set reveals, beautiful and cohesive lighting and design, and impressive use of space. Artist created video or real captured video could bring the space to life even more.

Customer service

Ben is top-tier enthusiast of escape games, which makes for a top-tier game master.

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

A storyline and theme I haven't seen done before

Story

The puzzles eventually reveal deeper layers to the story, all building up to a good story reveal that justify the moments leading up to it, but the last act of the game (while visually awesome) felt rather separated from the main storyline.

Difficulty

Medium

Plenty of ground to cover in terms of puzzles, but none that had us stuck for too long.

Game tech

High tech

Almost completely tech-based game in terms of puzzles, special effects, and story moments.

Ideal number of players

4

Scary

Scary

Nothing scary in terms of the visual environment, but a handful of moments that are intended to make you jump through sounds, lighting, and effects - don't let this stop you from playing whatsoever!

Minimum age

10

Was anything broken?

Yes

One puzzle wasn't playable or functioning as designed, but our GM stepped in promptly and let us solve it another way.

Live actors

No

Physically active

Somewhat

A few big steps and crawling are required to experience everything in the space, but not every team member needs to crawl.

Accessibility

Games and lobby are on the building's second floor, accessible by elevator. Just over half of this game is on a level surface and accessible by chair, but using steps and crawling is required to experience 100% of the game. Hints are given via audio (walkie-talkie). I don't recall any puzzles that require color differentiation.

Easy to find location

Yes

Parking

Medium

There is a parking lot available that can fill up, but street parking is also nearby.

Safety

Yes

We always knew where an exit to the game was, and while a couple of special moments intentionally present the slightest illusion of danger, none of the set pieces or effects ever felt unsafe to use or interact with.
