Escape The 90's

This is version 2.0 of the room, with all new puzzles courtesy of our GM Katie. Very fun, and packed with cultural references from the 1990s. A low-budget buildout means that set snobs will likely be disappointed…but it’s all about the vibe. Difficulty was on the easier side (we were a duo, and we finished with 8 minutes left, no hints), so I’d recommend a group of 2 or 3 enthusiasts. Technically, no prior knowledge of the 90’s is required to complete the room, but it will definitely help. Even without that knowledge, cluing was easy to understand through the usage of matching colors and symbols. This is my favorite room at The Quandary, check it out and then grab a drink next door at the L&L Tavern, which was once frequented by both Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy

Cool theme but very worn out and several broken pieces and mechanics. Game master wasn’t apologetic when we mentioned the broken pieces, just a shrug with ‘yeah sometimes that doesn’t work’. Game is not linear so when coming across something broken it may not be obvious and game masters don’t keep an eye out via video. Found similar feedback in a review over a year ago so clearly they don’t care to fix it! Skip this one.

Loads of fun and a truly authentic atmosphere. We had a great time.

This room had some of most unique puzzles I’ve seen and was very nostalgic. Decor wise it was more of a hand-made feel than some of the more immersive rooms I’ve been in.

Really fun 90s theming. Lots of locks in this room. Enjoyed the period set pieces like gaming console and computer to get hints. A lot of pop culture design elements for us parents. Great independent room. Lovely game master.

Some of the most fun I’ve had in an escape room! I’ll admit I’m extremely biased towards this room themed around 2 sisters’ bedrooms in the 90s, but can you blame me for having such vivid nostalgia?! I appreciated every reference, and I loved specific parts involving video games! The hint system was genius and inherently fun and filled with personality from the excellent GM! The room can be overwhelming with the literal dozens of references and unclear start points, but all locks are explicitly marked, and we never had a real issue once we got going. Most importantly, it felt in theme and was enjoyable throughout. I recommend this specifically for anyone with fond memories of growing up in the 90s!

What a blast! This room was so immersive, and the theme was so on point. I honestly felt like I had traveled back to my childhood bedroom! I felt so nostalgic and was digging all of the very appropriate puzzles. There are so many small touches to this room that really make you want to keep exploring! In order to get a clue, do you had to type on a computer using AIM! So cute and fun!
