21 escape rooms
This room had a couple cool elements to it, but several aspects of the game didn't work on its first or even second attempt. Our group wasted like 10 minutes on something that simply was not working. The rooms is extremely dimly lit, so if you go at night, it will be challenging to see since you have no light coming from outside. You have to use a lot of force for a couple aspects. Communication was through a walkie talkie, so the GM couldn't hear you unless you were pushing the button on it. Overally very meh and probably the most disappointing room I've done. The people are nice, though.

11 escape rooms
This room is not suited for first time escape room players. Do not recommend anyone to come here. The people who work here are lovely but that’s the only positive. Although the exterior seems sketchy, the venue is quaint inside. Not judging that. Room 2217 is GOD awful and the worst escape room in the Bay Area. My group, they’re regular escape room fans and we travel around Bay Area from Napa, Santa Cruz, San Francisco, Concord, and San Jose. This was the first one we ever had an issue with. We also had one first timer within the group. He was not happy either. Game mechanics broke constantly to a point where the game master had to step into the room repeatedly mid-game. You can only work “one puzzle at a time” using two people comfortably while the rest of the group sits and stands around for backup, not ideal for party of eight. Not to mention the room is dark with low lit lighting. Budget is not a contributing factor because we have done escape rooms with minimal budget and they turn out great whether we escape or not. There are obvious ways to make this room better and I hope Cubic Escape fixes them especially mechanical. A two room game should not be 75 minutes long. Time is wasted watching videos and using the phone. This whole room needs a revamp. Very disappointed!
223 escape rooms
I didn't like this game. Had some cool stuff where we had to look out the window, which I haven't see before, but some of the puzzles felt frustrating and too difficult. Last puzzle was broken too, and we had to tell the game master.
77 escape rooms
The story is kind of ok and there were less puzzles but following the story line, if you are like me into complex and amount of puzzles, I would not recommend this room.

This room is one of my most memorable from the ones I’ve played in the Bay Area. The building does look a little run down but inside it is a different story. Cubic escape has done such a great job with a rich story line and a very immersive hotel/motel type set up. A lot of puzzles that kept my party of 2 busy throughout. Would recommend!

I will have to say this, don't be be fooled by the exterior of this place. The room was surprisingly good. It's funny because, sometimes the more sketch the place looks, the better the room it is LOL. Hole in the wall escape rooms right? Anyways Room 2217 definitely has a creep factor. There's no jump scares, but as time goes on, it does start to feel a little eerie inside. It most definitely didn't help that it was just the two of us doing the room at 10pm. If you're the type of person who likes scary movies and stuff, then try out Cubic at night. If you're a little weak of heart like I am, then doing the day time will be slightly better. There's no traditional lock and keys in the room. There's a lot of technology and triggers with the rooms. Which is nice, it helps make the room more immersive. Room 2217 is very story driven, and with that it means the puzzles are really linear. You can't progress to the next puzzle until you complete the puzzle you're on. Unlike other escape rooms where larger parties are able to spread out to search and solve puzzles. The usual divide and conquer strategy for escape rooms don't apply here. That being said, I suggest a good party size would be 2-3 players. 6 would be too much, because you'll have everyone doing the same puzzle at the same time. It might limit involvement from your party members. That's just my thought. Our game master, Bailey was good. He really paid attention to our game and nudged us at just the right points. There are definitely points through the game were some instructions were no clear or confusing. You just gotta ask clues, no shame in it.

This room was fun and there was one aspect that I remember super well because I have yet to do that in any other room before. There was a thick storyline to this room which I throughout enjoyed and would recommend it to anyone!
