Check your membership cards! Eccentric businessman and Harvest Moon Video store owner, Joseph Boddy , is set to retire. He has decided to randomly select several membership cards from his Video Store database and has issued special “golden tickets” to a lucky few. A local newspaper, The Sleepy Hollow Patch, is reporting that Mr. Boddy has laid out a series of challenges throughout his beloved video store for the chosen few, and if successful, the team will be rewarded THE DEED to the store. Mr. Boddy feels it is time for a change in ownership, one that can bring a fresh new upgrade to Harvest Moon Video as a new generation takes the helm of the film world. HMV has always been a prominent fixture on Main Street in the quiet village of Sleepy Hollow, New York. This quaint store continues to be the hot spot in town on a Friday night, as locals fill the aisles look for movies to rent. YOUR membership card has been drawn, and you and your team are anxiously waiting outside the store for further instructions. As you feel the crisp, cool air and take in the smells of the fall season, you listen to the passing cars, wondering when Joseph Boddy will arrive. At exactly 10:31 pm, a video beings to play inside the store. Your instructions are simple. You must gain entrance to the store and complete the tasks within an hour. If you are successful, you will be granted the deed to Harvest Moon Video. However, if you cannot complete his game in time, your car will be towed, and the next team of lucky golden ticket winners will get their change at this one-in=a=lifetime opportunity.

This room was definitely nostalgic to old Block Busters and felt very real! I appreciated how much detail went into the set design and the puzzles. This room was not as linear as some other rooms and definitely is not one I would personally recommend to a first timer. There were many combination locks as well as regular key locks and at some points it felt hard to keep track of everything. Other than that, the room is very fun and definitely family friendly. Would love to somehow see a longer table to work at when figuring out puzzles because I will say, the floor ended up being the easiest area to solve things on (but again, the room is only so big so I dont know where they would add another table).

My boyfriend and I had a great time playing Video Store. The room had so many fun references to so many different genres of movies and the set design was very well thought out. Jordan was a great game master. She let us start to figure things out but if we got off track, she gently nudged us back in the right direction. My only complaint about the room was that there were too many combination locks for my liking. I would’ve loved to see either less locks or more variety of locks. Other than that, I loved the room and the old school Blockbuster theme. We will definitely be going back!

My boyfriend & I completed 5 rooms at Dare 2 Escape. I’d rank the rooms as followed: Seventh Room At the Hop Ice Cream Shoppe Video Store Ringmaster Paper Company If you have nostalgia for video stores, this may be the game for you! :) For the locks, I recommend having the letters/#s perfectly placed & tugging again if it doesn’t budge. These locks felt a bit less forgiving with placement. If playing as a party of 2, I recommend keeping a fast-pace. Video Store felt a little hectic towards the very end, but may have been because we were a bit easy-going in the beginning. I suspect this game would be more enjoyable as a party of 3. All 5 rooms at Dare 2 Escape had many puzzles. 🧩 This room felt a bit more puzzle-heavy than the others, but it may have been because it was the first room we did at Dare 2 Escape.

Overall, loved this room. I enjoyed the puzzles and the sets. Last puzzle could have been better but overall I would recommend this game, great job 😀

Another great room from D2E. Smaller room, fun puzzles, nice theming, and a good story. We had a blast.

We absolutely LOVED the theming of this room. Such an amazing throwback to our days of visiting the video rental store. Very nostalgic! The game was very fun. We loved how the clues related to the movies and the rental experience. Our GM Cris was perfect! Very helpful when we needed it and just overall fun and positive. It was a hard room for just two people, but Cris made the experience awesome!

I reaaally ended up enjoying this one at Dare2escape, it was the fifth room that I’ve done there and every time I do one of their rooms it is so refreshing in the best way, this was no exception! The video store was so well crafted and the puzzles really fit the concept of the room :)
I really liked how the puzzles flowed in this one!
It was a video store alright :)
Love Ashley!

I really have never done a video store room let alone a room that you break into a store
Dare 2 escape rooms are all interconnected by aspects and it’s not cheesy as you’d think
Hard
This one was TOUGH, I did it with my boyfriend and we were scrambling trying to finish at the end
Mechanical
There were a handful of physical locks but also a ton of technology too, some things I’ve never done in an escape room

I loved this room, it’s not the biggest footprint of the d2e has but it is packed with puzzles and very nostalgic, I really loved playing this game

Very fun, difficult, but well thought out room. Plus, as a 90s kid, the theming was wonderful.
Very novel, I mean how many video store escaperooms have you seen? The puzzles felt like they flowed very easily from one to the next.
Amazing set design, nothing crazy on special effects. The set really did look like a video store.
This might be the best part of Dare 2 Escape. Every person we interacted with was a delight and really cared about our enjoyment.
