Something sinister is happening at Kapow Komics. Five cursed comic books have found their way onto the shelves, and one by one, unsuspecting readers have been pulled straight into the pages, trapped forever in ink and imagination. You’ve got to find and destroy the comics before they claim their next victims. Search the shelves, decode the clues and track down all five cursed volumes before the story ends for good. But be warned, the comics won’t give up their secrets easily. Heroes, villains, and mysteries lurk around every corner the line between fiction and reality is getting dangerously thin. Can you find all five comics and break the spell, or will you become part of the story?

This was my first room at Cloud Escape and it was truly comic book collector’s paradise. Our game master shared with us that enthusiasts would overthink some of the puzzles and we sure did. Just to get in, we needed a nudge in the right direction. Overall, my review for the puzzles would be mixed. Some puzzles felt like a leap to get to the answer but others were clear. They did put an effort to combine tech elements with lock-and-key puzzles, which I appreciate but the beginning just felt so lock-and-key heavy that I wish they broke it up just a tiny bit. A couple of tech puzzles sprinkled in would have kept the momentum in going in the first segment. We accidentally opened up some backup puzzles so we got confused over where those inserts would go. It’s good to know that they have redundancies in case the tech fails! During their promotional weekend, they were giving away funkos, a thematic way to close out the room! 😎 I love the quirkiness of this experience (and last thing I’ll say) I do wish the story was more cohesive. I got lost in the sauce as we were working on the puzzles. My conclusion is that this is a wonderful room that is a must go if you are ever in the area. Puzzles were fun to solve, service here is impeccable, and production value couldn’t get any more authentic than seeing those comic books up close. Ideally, you would bring 4-6 players maximum. After 6 people, I imagine it getting stuffy.

It was really cool and fun fun fun. We got free funkos at the end!

It’s not linear and there was enough for 6 people to comfortably work in that room!
Amazing set design especially if you’re a comic enthusiast. The designer put a lot of personal favorite and authentic pieces in there. It really brings the room together.
Really really sweet and passionate about their work

Nothing is broken but you can tell they use new tech cause as you work on the puzzle and get it right, they’ll tell you it’s right you just need to fidget with it to trigger the next sequence

Very fun and unique theme. You don’t have to be a comic book/character fan to understand it- don’t overthink the clues!

Had an amazing time at Cloud Escape doing the Kapow Komics room! The room was incredibly fun and packed with so many detailed comic book touches that made the whole experience immersive, especially for comic lovers. The puzzles were creative and well-balanced, with a great variety that kept everyone engaged the entire time. We also loved all the cool mechanisms and interactive elements throughout the room — you can tell a lot of thought went into the design. Definitely one of the more memorable escape rooms we’ve done and would highly recommend!

This was my first room at Cloud Escape and this experience really impressed me. As someone who isn’t too well versed in comic books, I still thoroughly enjoyed the room and thought the decorations were awesome. The puzzles are well thought out and you could tell the team put a lot of love into the room. The owner even has some of his own collectibles in there! The pacing was nice because our team of 4 could split up and get different things done for most of the game. Last thing to add, after reading other reviews on Morty, they really take constructive criticism to improve their rooms. We had a pretty seamless experience and I think that’s because they fixed a couple mechanisms, so that’s great! Thank you for the fun experience, we’ll definitely be returning in the future!

Kapow Comics was a fantastic escape room and a great choice for anyone who enjoys comics, superheroes, Marvel, DC, or Star Wars. The room is filled with amazing comic-themed memorabilia, and one of the best parts is that you actually get to interact with many of the props instead of just looking at them. We especially enjoyed the non-linear gameplay, which let different people work on different puzzles at the same time and kept everyone involved. During the grand opening, there was also a trivia component, which may have been a special addition, but it was a really fun touch — and I personally enjoyed getting a chance to shine. David and his wife really put in the special efforts to make this a fun escape room. Overall, Kapow Comics is a 5-star escape room and definitely worth playing.

Really fun new room, and I’d imagine this one is definitely catnip for comic book lovers. Couple tiny tech kinks, but that’s normal for a new room and I’m sure they’ll be ironed out. I always admire these guys’ rooms because of the DIY energy that goes into them and the focus on puzzles over frills (which isn’t to say that they’re not immersive and visually appealing). Chatted with the owner Dave a couple of times at Cloud and the Irvine rooms, and he’s really a delight, as are the game masters. Looking forward to what comes next here.

I really love the theme and the decor, but some of the flimsy mechanical issues did soil the experience a little, especially for a room that was opened recently. The side quest at the end was a ton of fun though and a really nice surprise! I could also tell the staff are trying their best to give us the best experience possible. I was a little annoyed with the mundane explanations in the beginning, but after seeing other reviews here, I now completely understand why they are doing that. It's nice to see a business reacting so quickly to feedbacks!

Overall liked the storyline and puzzles but a few kinks should be worked out to make it flow a little better. The front door part requires knowing how that lock works, it’s uncommon in escape rooms (we’ve done over 100) - some general directions for that lock functionality would be helpful. Unlike another reviewer we did get time updates and had a good experience with the staff. The scanner was a little clunky and ate up time even when we were doing things correctly. It just would not scan without being just right. One of the only other rooms we’ve ever not escaped (totally different escape room company and theme) involved a scanning gun not working even when it should have and things were accurate. Definitely worth a try and give them a little grace since it’s a new game.

We are so happy you liked it! Thank you for the feedback, we have added a demonstration of the lock box to our introduction, for those that may be unfamiliar. We have also changed up a couple of the items that were harder to scan. Thanks for the Grace and visiting us Opening Weekend!
