The Menagerie

I’m not sure why this room seems to be so divisive on Morty. I thought it was a blast, with a number of unique puzzles and ideas, and some fun theatrical moments tossed in as well. Nor do I really get the complaints about the computer angle. I’m someone who tends to loathe computers when they figure in escape rooms, but in this case that element flowed quite smoothly and was effectively integrated into the game.

I must say that I’m surprised by the negative reviews because we really enjoyed this room. Yes, the 1990-styled computer was a little time-consuming but there were so many cool elements in this game. The GM was basically a live actor in the game, which was so fun. And the adaptive nature of the game ensures you get your money’s worth. I think this would be a fun room for seasoned escape enthusiasts to take a newbie. It was great!

Pretty cool room, not a ton to do for 4 experienced people but some fun puzzles and flow of story line

Pretty cool serial killer themed room. I wouldn't say this room is scary, but more creepy, but there is some gore. Strengths of this room are the theming and some of the clue mechanisms are very cool. Weaknesses are the computer based documentation, which is on theme, but annoying in practice as you can only open one window at a time on the "computer". The most annoying thing to me was they had one of those "solve this first" puzzle, but the mechanism was very unintuitive. Once we got past that the rest of the room was pretty fun. Our GM Fern was great and got really into character. The GM system in this room was also very in theme, very easy to communicate with the GM also. Overall I'd recommend this room.

The entire room revolves around a computer console. While this seems insignificant, the computer console is slow to a crawl and almost totally unresponsive. This makes the game nearly unplayable, and you will spend half your time getting your mouse clicks to register instead of solving puzzles. (If the makers of the escape room are reading this, please install the correct power supply or just get rid of the computer console). This room had the potential to be at least okay if this worked properly, but as it was it was quite a chore to get through. 3/10. Needs serious work.

This was really fun as a group. Good serial killer setup with some creative puzzles. Set was creepy but nothing too gross or scary.

It's meh, and in this industry that means you can skip it.

I think it was decently made room, but overall the theme was very overwhelming especially from the grossness aspect for me.

Definitely so great puzzle executions in here, one in particular being very unique and quite impressive. Overall story is pretty solid, execution is very well done. Adaptive puzzles weren't terribly difficult, and were well integrated into the flow of the room. Environment is well done, giving a solid vibe for the story of the room.
