The Pyramid

The production is solid. For a game that has been around for this long, you can see some wear and tear but the flow and the actual puzzles still hold up in the quality of experience. The challenge level for the Pyramid is apparently the highest compared to the other rooms they have at this location. Having played the others, I personally think Black Dragon, one of their newer escape rooms, is harder just by sheer number of puzzles. I wish our game master was a tad bit warmer in his reception but he was present the entire time and gave us clarification when needed. It’s a fine room but not a standout. I did find the constellation puzzle unique to the usual Mayan theme but everything else is not as memorable. The last room allowed for some dividing and conquering so a group of 4-5 is a good number of people to bring for this experience. Parking here is difficult because it’s located in downtown LA so plan accordingly.

We really enjoyed this room. Visually the environment is immersive and interesting to explore, though some puzzle mechanisms are showing their age. The superb staff member with us did a great job of rolling with any issues while staying “in character”, and also gave us some good nudges when we missed something. It was challenging for our team of two experienced escapers and we nearly failed, but this made it satisfying. Black Dragon remains my favourite room here, but this was a good one.

This was so much fun. A great set, engaging puzzles, and a good story. I highly recommend this one!

Was planning on playing all three rooms here but unfortunately Atlantis was booked out :(. Pyramid was very immersive and the theme was great. The puzzles were unique however so.e required a bit more brain power than I could muster, but fortunately the other memners in the crew picked up for my slack. This was our first game at Escape Room LA. The way they handled the hints for us was unique and creative. We really appreciated this method which makes it more immersive. This is their most difficult and ultimately, we managed to escape with 17 seconds remaining with a crew of 3!

The immersion for this one was great, and I loved the theme. You don’t often see a Mayan themed pyramid room so that was really cool. Like all the other rooms at this location, the items in the room and the props felt really real and substantial. I was a little bit frustrated that there was no way to keep track of how much time was passing. And the GM was in the room with us, but did not let us know how much time was going by. We finished a puzzle and a door opened, but it turned out that that door was opening from another puzzle that we finished before that, just really late. So we thought that the puzzle we did was correct, but it turned out it was incorrect and we didn’t know that so we got really stuck later, which I think caused us to not finish the room. This is the one room that we have not escaped as a team. It’s probably just that it’s an old room and some of the puzzles are a little bit janky. That being said, I would still really recommend this room anyways which I think goes to show how fun the rest of it was.

Loved the production. The games flowed really well together and were just challenging enough to keep us engaged but not feeling defeated. Loved our host John.

Played this room on a date. We also got paired with people we didn’t know but they were a great group of people. The room was really fun and had some theatrical reveals. We escaped with medium difficulty.

This is a solid room in the “explore the ancient jungle temple” genre. It does some things that I have not seen in other rooms (or at least not seen done this well), including one interactive puzzle involving constellations that I found to be particularly innovative. The puzzle design is solid throughout and the set design is good. The room is showing its age, but we liked it a lot. Recommended.
