Το Σανατόριο [The Sanatorium]

Game 9 of 18 of Our Athens Tour - #### that was intense. This is, in short, living a video game (Think Resident Evil or Silent Hill). The set is dingy, dark, and hard to see. It doesn’t need to be particularly large, as it makes use of every. Single. Inch perfectly. The puzzles are challenging but manageable (largely scaling in difficulty based on your perception of how scary the game is). Thomas, your guide in the town, is a kind and reassuring presence. The actors were terrifying and excellent in their timing and placement. This game is TERRIFYING, but is also very manageable if you approach it with the mindset of it being a video game with strict rules, as the rules WILL be followed by all involved. Thank you Lockhill, I never thought I’d be brave enough to escape this game. Thank you for giving me the chance to prove myself wrong.

Very very scary room, I loved the immersion and each part of the room, I might have accidentally broke the elevator at the end but it just means that the room was so good and so terrifying !

We played the Midnight mode (extra riddles, extra horror) and I have to say one of the scariest experiences, the atmosphere alone is enough to make you anxious and the riddles where very nice. The overall great thing about the sanatorium and Lockhill in general is the gameplay which sets them apart from the rest.

There are three different modes of gameplay you can choose: Day: maximum puzzles, no actors, 90 mins Night: less/simpler puzzles, with live actors, 90 mins (same cost as day) Midnight: maximum puzzles, with live actors, 150 mins (additional cost) As we were already playing other horror games with actors in other rooms, we chose day mode to focus on puzzles, rather than another actor horror room experience. Even without live actors, this was a phenomenal room. The narrow claustrophobic hallways, disorienting layout, plenty of hidden nooks and outstanding theming made this a terrifying and thrilling experience. We were on edge the entire time even though we knew we would not encounter anyone.

By far the scariest room i have ever played.

Great immersion even without the actors option (I probably would have shit myself with actors). Great puzzles and time. Recommend it very much. Warning: bring extra shoes and hand wipes... Quite dusty floors.

Lock Hill claims to be the most thematic escape room in Europe and they are onto something, from the moment you enter the foyer you are transported to the world, there are three rooms at this venue and they are all in the village of "Lock Hill", all the GM's are always in character and it gives a level of immersion rarely seen in Escape Rooms.  The Sanatorium has three difficulty levels and you choose before hand, daylight is normal but with no live actors, night is half the puzzles but live actors and nightmare is all the puzzles with live actors!  We chose daylight as one of our number had an injured foot and didn't fancy it.  This is a hard room with some really complex puzzles to get your head around.  Clues are given over a phone and still given in character.  This was a tough room without worrying about what might be round the corner.  I've been torn about whether I enjoyed this or the manor house more but I think this one just gets over the line.

9/10 There is only one way to play this escape room. Midnight Mode. More Monsters, More Puzzles, More Fear, More Pressure, and overall an incredible experience. The performances by the actors are outstanding. Every character in their element, immersing you deeper and deeper into the experience. The scares are well balanced, from terrifying jump scares to psychological manipulation, to situational pressure forcing you to make quick decisions and adjust play style accordingly. Puzzles are not strong points in the majority of Greek rooms, but the Sanatorium was a breath of fresh air. Their puzzles were anywhere from simply straight forward to complex and thought provoking. And don’t even worry about the production and set design. As Lockhill once again outdid themselves, proving themselves once again as one of the best Escape Room companies in Greece, if not the world. And yes, bring an extra pair of shoes.

Sanatorium was a fantastic experience from start to finish! The pacing was excellent, and the room just kept giving us more and more right until the end. The immersion was easily the strongest part; at no point did I feel like I was "just in an escape room." Everything felt realistic, atmospheric, and completely pulled me into the story. The puzzles were great too, and they followed the narrative naturally instead of feeling separate from it. Nothing but compliments for the staff: from the game master who welcomed us and talked with us afterwards, to the actors who played the “threat” masterfully. A must-visit for horror lovers, especially anyone who enjoyed the game Outlast 🔦😄
