The Orphanage - If Walls Could Whisper

Good set, puzzles made sense, spooky vibe. Worth playing, but didn't strike me as unusual. To be fair, I'm not a horror fan (I don't hate it, just don't love it), so I might not be the target audience.

The Orphanage by DarkPark was the only room we played that day, with a team of 4, and we had an absolute blast. The room is perfectly themed and impressively well maintained for its age, originally built around 8 years ago as DarkPark’s third creation. We were fortunate to experience it shortly after a recent refurbishment, which really elevated the overall quality. What stood out most was the beautifully balanced spooky atmosphere, just the right amount of tension to keep you fully immersed without relying on cheap scares. It added an extra layer of depth and emotion to the already strong narrative. As expected from DarkPark, the puzzles, story, and attention to detail came together seamlessly to create a cohesive and engaging experience. With a 58% success rate, it’s the hardest of their four permanently open rooms, and it certainly kept us sharp. We escaped with just 3 minutes to spare. Highly recommended, but to make the most of it, and to increase your chances of success, it really helps to have at least a couple of experienced players on your team.

Wow—this room was absolutely fantastic! The story was very clear, and both the music and decor felt like a big step up from The Dentist and The Freakshow. From start to finish I was on edge, with clever jump scares and a perfectly eerie atmosphere. Everything worked seamlessly together to deliver an unforgettable hour. It’s definitely on the spooky side—but luckily the teddy bears were there for comfort! The use of sound in this room deserves special mention; it’s simply outstanding. We played The Dentist and The Freakshow first, and then this one—which turned out to be the perfect order. Now I can’t wait to discover the other DarkPark rooms we still have left to play!

Damn this room was creepy. The best advice we can give is that any scares from this room are in your head, but they do a really good job of getting in your head. Someone will get stuck in the pitch black (and if you’re Julie, it will happen multiples times!). Aside from that, there was a strong narrative that is even stronger if you pay attention to detail. Always enjoy receiving pieces of the game in advance via e-mail. The entry in was great and really set the tone. Pro tip: If you are as blind as we are, DarkPark gives you the option to bring a small electronic candle into the room. It doesn’t give off enough light to reveal anything it shouldn’t. The massive set was really well done and the puzzles were well integrated. While nothing blew our minds in this room, the overall concept and design were so well executed that it earned the 5th 🗝️ from us (usually set aside for rooms with wow factors). You can easily do this with 2 people if you’re experienced. They have ways to alter some puzzles to meet group size. If you don’t have time for all of DarkPark’s rooms, do The End. This is a no-brainer (if you know, you know). After that, we think this and Honeymoon Hotel are a toss up and depend more on which theme you prefer. Everyone says The End is their scariest room, but we found Orphanage scarier, with Honeymoon Hotel the least scary. Our scare threshold is probably relatively low compared to horror seekers. We can’t handle anything that assaults us with scares, and none of their rooms do that. Escape Couple rating: 5 🗝️: Excellent room with wow factors (we use a 1-6🗝️ rating scale)

Great classic orphanage room and storyline, but good puzzles fitting the theme. Eeirie atmosphere.

we enjoyed it. the setting was eerie. the story unfolded as we progressed. we played with 5. with 5, we were very efficient. maybe 3 or 4 would be preferable for others.

One of those rooms where you don't want it to end. Really cool.

Even games half this size are rare. It’s a massive game, but it does a good job of maintaining pace and focus. It was too much for our group of 2 but still really fun!

A must play room. Great atmosphere, storytelling and set design. The puzzles were varied and have you moving throughout the rooms, and also include team challenges.
