Boda Borg Boston Quests

I love this place, but only when it’s not crowded. If you go when it’s slower, nothing beats this experience, because the name of the game is failure. You will fail, and you will fail again, but when you finally figure out the rooms, the rush is amazing! And there are so many fun, and varied quests to try! So, with that said, if you can go in to a room, fail, and immediately try again, this place is so fun… BUT, if you go when it’s busy and you either have to wait 10 minutes or run around trying, hoping, to find another available room, it’s literally the worst experience ever. So if I could, I would give this a LOVED IT when not crowded, and a DISLIKE when crowded.

Fun and engaging bite sized “escape” rooms! Enjoyed much better than the likes of Level 99, less crowds and plenty of time to redo rooms after failure. A plethora of experiences with very doable physical challenges (from the rooms I visited). Heavily recommend: The Farm, Area 51, Lava, Alcatraz.

Incredibly fun and engaging premise: mini-rooms, each of which takes only a few minutes to complete, but you can fail and need to restart. There are tons of different rooms (“quests”), some similar to traditional escape rooms and some quite different. There’s a good number of physical challenges. Try to go when it’s not too crowded so wait times to re-enter rooms after failing aren’t long. I only got to complete a small number of quests, but I’d love to return for more. 5/5

Incredibly fun. Kind of like a low tech version of Level 99. Basically a bunch of themed mini escape rooms with all you can escape passes for the day.

It is a unique experience in the US (though some more like it are popping up). It is a day of quests instead of straight up escape rooms - though some of it will feel familiar. They break down the quests for you, so you can focus on things you want to try (some are VERY physical). What we had to get used to was that no room tells you what to do. A buzzer goes off if you fail and a new room opens (or you complete the sequence) if you succeed. That's it. But since they are super quick, that didn't matter. We were there four hours (you can book different amounts of time and then the rooms are unlimited) and we completed only three rooms. They told us that was average, but who knows. Part of the fun is definitely figuring out what you have to do, followed by then figuring out how to do it. I'll tell you - when you get to that stamp (finishing each room allows you to put a stamp on your passport) - it is a real feeling of accomplishment. If we lived in Boston, we would have already been back multiple times. Loved our exhausting day there.

It is entirely possible that we visited the place on an unfortunate day but most of the family did not find the experience enjoyable in the least. We focused on about 3 of the easier rooms, and by the time we realized the tech in the rooms was broken (and therefore unsolvable), we were thoroughly frustrated. The concept seems on paper like it'd be a lot of fun so again, it might have just been a bad day to go for us!

Overall concept was neat. Some of the rooms were frustrating and, like others have said, it was unclear where the failure lay as sometimes it was the tech and others just part of the learning process. Staff were not as readily available as we were lead to believe. Don’t go on the weekends or during school breaks!! Groups of young kids rudely knock on doors and run around, despite rules against this (again, no staff presence). Some rooms were very worn out and are in need of cleaning and upkeep. But there was some fun there, for sure. Absolutely not ADA compliant.

Boda Borg quests are a fun and random time. Be it climbing on a web of bungee cords, answering questions, or hiding from a demonic doll you never have some challenges and you will fail often, but try, try, and try again.

This was my first experience 'questing' or anything similar. I went with some friends who weren't comfortable with the physical quests so was unfortunately relegated to the more lightly intensive or mental quests. This still was a delightful experience that enraptured me.
