Today we played all the rooms at The Escape Ventures (back to back). This room would have been my #2 rated room, but the GM was kinda pushy and would give us the solution to a puzzle without us asking and without giving us adequate time to talk it through. He had just come on shift when we were due to start this game and we actually had started the game about 10 minutes late because he wasn’t there yet. He rushed through the intro and then rushed us through the room (I think he was trying to make up time, because the room was booked right after us by a different group). Anyways, back to the room. This room was REALLY well done and had some really cool puzzles. The atmosphere and set design was legit. I felt like I was in the quad outside a university and in the hallways of a school so set design and immersiveness=A+, technology=A, puzzles were challenging and some of them multi tiered =A+, that particular GM= C. All in all definitely got passing grades but fell short of my number 2 spot and placed 3rd for the day.

I will preface this review with the fact that we played all five of their games today and we had a great time. Overall, the staff is passionate and their love for escape games, The Escape Ventures, and their rooms really comes through. However, the experience with this room was clouded by an overly pushy GM who was way too quick on providing nudges. Objectively, there were some clever puzzles, the set was great, and there were a few moments where the technology was amazing, but, like any college class you may take, where the subject, curriculum, and instructor all combine to form your opinion of the class, there are many things that go into the escape room experience and the GM is one of those things and he brought down this room for me. I’d still recommend it of course and the day as a whole was amazing.

Surprisingly this was my least favorite of the games at Escape Ventures. That’s not to say this game was bad by any means, it definitely wasn’t. Great puzzle design, great atmosphere, etc…What dragged it down a ways for me was that in spite of having more than 8 minutes remaining, and having already played 3 games at this point our new GM felt very pushy with unwarranted clues. My party tends to play for as few clues as possible and will stubbornly wait for clues. As a GM I understand and accept nudges but these felt a little too frequent and a little too heavy handed. Otherwise though, this room was really good and is absolutely deserving of the praise it gets.

This is my second favorite of all their rooms :) We completed it with a party of 4. Shy is a great game-master.

This room is a must play in Orlando! At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about the theme, but my team had so much fun in this room I have become a “party theme” convert. The atmosphere is great. I won’t give anything away but this may be the first ER I’ve ever done where, at one part, I actually felt like I was standing outdoors. There’s a great mix of puzzles with some light physical activity involved. I don’t believe experienced teams will find it TOO challenging , but again it is a lot of fun. The space is relatively large but for experienced teams I would recommend a smaller group or 2 or 3 so that everyone is able to get in on the action. I cannot recommend this ER company enough!! My small, experienced team loved this game so much. We also had a great time chatting with employees afterwards about the rooms, other places we’ve visited, and recommendations for other ERs to check out in Orlando!

Such a great room, glad we had three people as there were some tough puzzles but we took our time and figured them out. We really enjoyed this, and our GM Lawrence was excellent.

Was a very fun game! All clues were clear and play through pretty streamlined! The hanks to our gm!

Wow, starting off great as soon as you enter the room the game master really gets you excited for the story and ready to go. Most escape rooms don’t have an excited start but this one was memorable! There were different elements in the room we were not used to which made for a unique experience. We did get stuck on a puzzle towards the end but that was our own fault for overthinking it. This is a room worth experiencing if you are in the area!
“The start of this game was the highlight and it made us feel like frat boys doing stupid things ...“
