The catacombs of Paris are a popular tourist destination. The bony fragments of several hundred-year-old remains attract curious visitors from all around the globe. But lesser known to the public is what exists beyond the catacombs. A place so deep below the Earth’s surface, it has its own ecosystem – independent of the outside world. No one would expect so much life would exist in a place with so much death. And this is where things get messy. It is rumored that an ancient cannibalistic tribe lives beyond the catacombs. According to legend, These people feast on the flesh of unsuspecting tourists and curious teenagers. They perform black magic rituals and worship a figure resembling a jackalope. All of this is simply rumors. Nobody has ever seen these people…. Or at least lived to tell the tale. Meet Arthur, an Anthropologist from Jacksonville, FL, USA. Arthur became obsessed with the cannibalistic tribe of the catacombs. He flew to Paris determined to prove their existence. But that was several days ago. I’m afraid no one has heard from Arthur since. You are here because you are the best in your field. If there’s any chance Arthur is still alive, you are his only hope. I’ve arranged for a guide to take you down to the Catacombs, I don’t know how deep they’re willing to travel, but they can at least give you a head start. Your mission is to find Arthur and bring him home safely. Good luck on your voyage. You’re going to need it.

This is the best room at Prototype escape rooms. If you like horror rooms it’s the best one within a couple hundred miles for sure. There’s an argument this is the best room in Jacksonville as well, it certainly is if you discount the Escape Game.

Jeremy, Thank you for the kind words. "The best one within a couple hundred miles" is quite the compliment. I appreciate you taking the time to write this heartfelt review. This game took me a year and a half to build, so hearing things like this from someone who's played as many games as you have feels pretty good. Take care. Joseph W. Brazfield Owner/Founder

Awesome room. Can definitely say I had a great time with or without doing well in the room. Had elements way different than what I’ve played before, making it a different and exciting experience. The game masters and owners were fantastic and gave us extra time to finish up since we were the only ones there that time slot. It was such a blessing to have done and finished it. It was truly awesome!!

Joe and Alicia were amazing! We had such a great time! They were very friendly. We loved the interaction with live actors. Such a cool experience! The room was tough & scary, but we escaped! If we ever come back to Jacksonville, we will definitely be back to try the other rooms!

My entire party had a blast in this room! The attention to detail and theming in this room are next level. Joe and his team at Prototype Escape rooms knocked it out of the park yet again. Would definitely recommend any of their rooms!

Experience was very disappointing. Poor design. No real originality or creativity. Attempt to make game high tech failed. Puzzles not always functional with constant help from the GM to ‘make it work’. So much hype about being ‘scared’ and it was limited with brief interaction with gamers. DEFINITELY NOT WORTH TIME OR MONEY!

Michael, Thank you for coming out to play Cannibals in the Catacombs on opening day. You were our first paying customer ever. We did a lot of beta testing on this game before opening it to the public, but there will always be issues we didn't catch with new games. This game will undergo many changes and improvements as we get all the kinks worked out. That's pretty standard with any brand-new escape room; we don't know what we don't know, and watching players go through the room several times helps us to refine the experience. However, I think the real reason you're upset is that I don't allow cell phones in my escape rooms. You insisted on keeping your phone on you because you were on call (despite being a doctor in another state), and I allowed you to in good faith. Then you asked me if you could take a photo of my escape room, and I told you not to and to put your phone away. I suspect that's the real reason you're upset with me. Every prop worked in your game, and I'm sorry I didn't let you take photos of my room. Thanks for coming out! Joseph W. Brazfield Owner Prototype Escape Games

All of the games are so original at Prototype and this game, especially, will be at the top of my recommendation list for Jacksonville.
