This room is pretty basic and some puzzles seemed designed just to take a long time to solve, but aren’t necessarily complicated. The set design is very basic and some of the puzzles were pretty creative. Play is somewhat linear, but without a true story. Other puzzles seemed completely disconnected (get a 5-digit number? Try it on every lock in the room.) Some puzzles didn’t make sense but we were still able to figure out the solution for word locks. Could remove a puzzle or two and reduce this to 60 min. I don’t think it would be possible to get through this without hints or nudges. Very pricey.

Our last stop at Escape Effect was one that did not blow us as way still offered a good time. Great game for those well versed in Greek Mythology (but by no means is it needed to complete the game)! For a 90 minute experience there is actually not too many puzzles but the ones that are there definitely can fill the time. We were warned that there was a lot of math here…there was a good portion of it but mostly simple so no need to fret there :) The set of the game was solid! There was a decent use of space and the theme carried from room to room. Our biggest problem with this room was certain puzzles for a variety of reasons ranging from materials used to solve the puzzle, clarity of solutions and busy work. Though apart from those few we found the game flowed pretty well and would definitely work well with a group of three to four players. Overall a decent trip to round out our time with Escape Effect! Off to the next one :)

This was a pretty standard lock and key room with many solves for codes to unlock locks. That being said, the room was enjoyable and the game progression flowed pretty smoothly. No surprises here but 90 minutes of solid gameplay.

Our GM was not very helpful. Anytime we asked for a hint, they would just ask if we had a specific question and not help us progress through the room. The theme of this room was cool but a lot of the puzzles were extremely tasked based which makes it difficult for smaller groups.

This is a solid room. Not difficult, but there is plenty to do, and not every puzzle is solvable in the immediate area where you find it (which I like — nonlinearity is fun). Everything is well made and all the locks are in good working order. It is a low-tech game (puzzles give you codes which open locks) with a good variety of puzzle types. I enjoyed the puzzles and the set design; it is an older-style room but well made. I liked the finale puzzle a lot but I can imagine that it is probably somewhat divisive in terms of how people feel about it. Recommended.

We’re in town for an Escape Room tour and booked this same night on a whim. It’s a 90 minute room and we escaped in an hour. Really enjoyable puzzles and experience.

First game we’ve done at Escape Effect and am very much looking forward to doing the rest of them. This was very well themed and the game play was great. The puzzles were well themed and gave us some challenge. They also allowed us to split our team and work on multiple things simultaneously which was nice. Great room!!

I wanted to love this room so much, because I love the theme of Greek gods in Greek mythology. It started off fine as we got the first few puzzles, but it seemed to go off the rails pretty quickly after that. This room is not entirely linear which in itself is not a problem. Also, one of the locks was not functioning properly, and the room was not set up properly we found out, which is why that lock did not function It’s very lock heavy, which normally doesn’t bother me, but when you have the same type of lock in multiple places, and one code that you have to try in multiple places, it gets frustrating, especially when the puzzles don’t give you an idea of which lock or even room. This room will have you running all over the place throughout the rooms. I also am not a fan of when the puzzles are extra hard just to be hard. For instance, you solve the puzzle but then you need to solve something else in order to solve the actual puzzle again. It was unnecessarily difficult, with the intent to trip you up and not necessarily logical. So it just felt disheartening when you thought you figured it out. I didn’t like that we had multiple game masters, and when we asked for a hint, we didn’t know who we were getting, and they usually would ask us what we wanted, so you could tell they were not watching what we were doing, and we had to explain where we are, or what we wanted help with. Just seemed impersonal. One of my biggest disappointments was the chalkboard slate thing in this room, or whatever you wanted to call it, it was absolutely disappointing and unusable, which is what they expected you to write with while you solve puzzles. And you absolutely need to in this room to have something to write and take notes with.
